2. Safety Information

• Anti-Pinch Technology: The PowerStep system is equipped with 'Anti-Pinch' technology. If an obstruction is detected during retraction, the steps will automatically stop and reverse direction to prevent injury or damage.
• Weight Limit: Each step board is engineered to support a maximum load of 600 lbs. Do not exceed this weight limit.
• Textured Surface: The stepping surface features a textured, slip-resistant design for optimal traction in various weather conditions.
• LED Lighting: Onboard LED lighting illuminates the step and the ground below, enhancing visibility during nighttime use.

4. Setup (Installation)

The AMP Research PowerStep is designed for a professional-quality installation, which can be performed in your own driveway with the right tools and adherence to the provided instructions. A vehicle-specific installation guide and all necessary hardware are included.

1. Review Instructions: Thoroughly read the entire installation guide specific to your vehicle model before beginning.
2. Mounting: Attach the mounting brackets to the vehicle's frame using the provided hardware.
3. Wiring: Connect the wiring harness to the vehicle's electrical system as detailed in the guide. This typically involves connecting to the vehicle's battery and door trigger wires.
4. Step Attachment: Securely attach the PowerStep boards to the mounted brackets.
5. LED Lights: Install and connect the LED step lights to the wiring harness.
6. Testing: Test the operation of the PowerSteps by opening and closing each door to ensure proper deployment and retraction.

5. Operating Instructions

• Automatic Deployment: The PowerSteps will automatically deploy when any vehicle door is opened.
• Automatic Retraction: The PowerSteps will automatically retract approximately 3 seconds after all vehicle doors are closed.
• Manual Override (for cleaning/roof access): To keep the steps deployed for cleaning or accessing the vehicle roof, apply slight pressure to the step with your foot while closing the door. The step will remain extended until the door is opened again without pressure, or until the vehicle is driven.

6. Maintenance

• Regular Cleaning: Keep the step surfaces clean from dirt, mud, and debris. The steps can be sprayed down and washed while deployed.
• Pivot Pin Inspection: Periodically inspect the stainless steel pivot pins for any signs of wear or corrosion. These pins are designed to be rust-proof for long-lasting operation.
• Lubrication: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to the pivot points annually or as needed to ensure smooth operation.

7. Troubleshooting

• Steps Not Deploying/Retracting:
  1. Check all electrical connections for tightness and corrosion.
  2. Ensure the vehicle's battery has sufficient charge.
  3. Inspect the steps for any physical obstructions that might be preventing movement.
  4. Verify the control module connections. In some cases, a faulty controller may need replacement (refer to customer support).
• Unusual Noises: Lubricate pivot points as described in the Maintenance section. If noises persist, inspect for loose components or damage.
