1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Memorex MI7805P iPod/iPhone Speaker Dock with CD Player. 5. Controls and Connections

6. Setup

6.1 Powering the Unit

The MI7805P can be powered by the included AC adapter or its internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

  1. AC Power: Connect the small end of the AC power adapter to the DC IN jack on the rear of the unit. Plug the other end into a standard wall outlet.
  2. Battery Power: The internal battery will automatically charge when the unit is connected to AC power. A full charge provides approximately 4-6 hours of playback.

6.2 Connecting Antennas

For optimal radio reception, connect the supplied antennas:

  1. FM Antenna: Connect the FM wire antenna to the FM ANT terminal on the rear of the unit. Extend the wire fully for best reception.
  2. AM Antenna: Connect the AM loop antenna to the AM ANT terminals on the rear of the unit. Position the antenna for best reception.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Power On/Off

Press the POWER button on the top panel to turn the unit on or off.

7.2 iPod/iPhone Playback

  1. Carefully place your 30-pin iPod or iPhone into the docking well on the top of the unit. Ensure it is seated correctly.
  2. Press the MODE button repeatedly until "iPod" or "iPhone" mode is selected.
  3. Use the PLAY/PAUSE and SKIP/SEARCH buttons on the unit, or control playback directly from your docked device.
  4. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME +/- buttons.
  5. The docked device will charge automatically when the speaker dock is connected to AC power.

7.3 CD Playback

  1. Press the CD DOOR OPEN/CLOSE button to open the CD compartment.
  2. Place an audio CD into the compartment with the label side facing up.
  3. Close the CD compartment.
  4. Press the MODE button repeatedly until "CD" mode is selected.
  5. The CD should begin playing automatically. If not, press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
  6. Use the SKIP/SEARCH buttons to navigate tracks.
  7. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME +/- buttons.

7.4 AM/FM Radio Operation

  1. Press the MODE button repeatedly until "FM" or "AM" mode is selected.
  2. Manual Tuning: Press the SKIP/SEARCH buttons briefly to tune to the next available station. Hold the button to scan for stations.
  3. Setting Presets:
    • Tune to your desired station.
    • Press and hold a PRESET button (e.g., P1, P2) until the display flashes, indicating the station is saved.
  4. Recalling Presets: Briefly press the desired PRESET button to recall a saved station.
  5. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME +/- buttons.

7.5 Auxiliary Input

  1. Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the AUX IN jack on the rear of the MI7805P.
  2. Connect the other end of the audio cable to the headphone jack or line-out jack of your external audio device.
  3. Press the MODE button repeatedly until "AUX" mode is selected.
  4. Start playback on your external audio device.
  5. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME +/- buttons on the MI7805P and/or your external device.

8. Maintenance

8.1 Cleaning the Unit

  • Always unplug the unit from the power outlet before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
  • For the CD player, use a specialized CD lens cleaner if playback issues occur.

8.2 Battery Care

  • To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
  • If the unit will not be used for an extended period, charge the battery fully before storage and recharge it every few months.
  • Do not expose the battery to excessive heat or direct sunlight.

9. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No power AC adapter not connected or faulty; battery discharged. Ensure AC adapter is securely plugged into the unit and wall outlet. Charge the internal battery.
No sound Volume too low; incorrect mode selected; device not properly connected. Increase volume. Select the correct input mode (iPod, CD, FM, AM, AUX). Ensure iPod/iPhone is docked correctly or AUX cable is fully inserted.
iPod/iPhone not charging Unit not connected to AC power; device not properly docked. Connect the unit to AC power. Re-seat the iPod/iPhone in the dock.
CD skipping or not playing CD is dirty or scratched; CD inserted incorrectly; lens dirty. Clean the CD with a soft cloth. Ensure CD is inserted label-side up. Try a different CD. Use a CD lens cleaner.
Poor radio reception Antennas not connected or poorly positioned; interference. Connect and fully extend the FM antenna. Adjust the position of both AM and FM antennas. Move the unit away from other electronic devices.
