Setup

1. Battery Installation

The WMT-555C requires 1 AAA battery for operation. Ensure the battery is inserted with the correct polarity as indicated inside the battery compartment. A fresh alkaline battery is recommended for optimal performance and battery life.

2. Powering On/Off

Press the ON / OFF button to power the unit on. Press and hold the ON / OFF button again to power it off.

3. Connecting the Pickup (Optional)

For tuning acoustic instruments, connect the provided clip-on pickup to the INPUT jack on the side of the unit. Attach the clip securely to your instrument, typically near the bridge or soundboard, to best capture vibrations.

Operating Instructions

Tuner Mode

  1. Select Tuner Mode: Press the MODE button until "Tuner" is displayed on the screen.
  2. Input Method:
    • Internal Microphone: For acoustic instruments, ensure no cable is plugged into the INPUT jack. The built-in MIC will detect sound.
    • Pickup/Instrument Cable: Plug the clip-on pickup or your instrument's 1/4" cable into the INPUT jack.
  3. Tune Your Instrument: Play a single note on your instrument. The display will show the detected note and indicate whether it is sharp, flat, or in tune. Adjust your instrument's tuning pegs until the display indicates the note is in tune.
  4. Key Selection: The tuner supports chromatic tuning in 4 keys: C, F, B♭, and E♭. Use the ITEM button to cycle through these key options if needed.
  5. Pitch Calibration: The reference pitch can be calibrated from 435Hz to 445Hz. Use the PITCH buttons to adjust the A4 reference frequency. The default is typically 440Hz.
  6. Tone Generator: Press the SOUND button to activate the built-in tone generator, which produces a reference tone for manual tuning.

Metronome Mode

  1. Select Metronome Mode: Press the MODE button until "Metronome" is displayed on the screen.
  2. Adjust Tempo: Use the TEMPO buttons (Up/Down) to set the desired beats per minute (BPM). The range is 30-230 BPM.
  3. Set Time Signature: Press the ITEM button to select the time signature setting. Use the VALUE buttons to choose from available time signatures: -/4 (0), 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 3/8, 6/8.
  4. Select Rhythm: Press the BEAT button to cycle through various rhythm patterns (e.g., quarter notes, eighth notes, triplets).
  5. Start/Stop Metronome: Press the PLAY Metronome button to start the metronome click. Press it again to stop.
  6. Adjust Volume: Use the Vol. slider to adjust the metronome's output volume.
