  • Use only the specified bulb type and wattage. The 1680AP uses nine candelabra base G16.5, 60-Watt (maximum) incandescent bulbs. Do not exceed 60 watts per bulb.
  • Ensure the mounting surface can support the weight of the fixture.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves during installation.

4. Setup and Installation

Professional installation is recommended. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Turn Off Power: Before starting, ensure the power to the junction box is turned off at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  2. Prepare Mounting: Attach the mounting strap to the junction box using the provided screws. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  3. Determine Height: The chandelier includes two 12-inch and two 6-inch stem segments, allowing for height adjustment up to a maximum overall fixture height of 63 inches. Additional stems may be purchased separately. Connect the desired stem segments to the chandelier body and then to the canopy.
  4. Wiring: Carefully connect the electrical wires. Connect the bare copper or green ground wire from the fixture to the ground wire from the junction box. Connect the white wire from the fixture to the white (neutral) wire from the junction box. Connect the black wire from the fixture to the black (hot) wire from the junction box. Secure all connections with wire nuts and wrap with electrical tape.
  5. Mount Canopy: Carefully push the canopy up to the ceiling, aligning the mounting holes with the screws on the mounting strap. Secure the canopy with the decorative nuts or screws. The 5-inch diameter canopy adjusts to a 45-degree tilt for sloped ceilings.
  6. Install Shades and Bulbs: Gently attach the satin-etched cased opal glass shades to each socket. Insert nine candelabra base G16.5, 60-Watt maximum incandescent bulbs into the sockets.
  7. Restore Power: Once installation is complete, restore power at the circuit breaker or fuse box.

5. Operating Instructions

The Kichler 1680AP Chandelier is designed for simple operation.

  • Power On/Off: Use the standard wall switch connected to the fixture to turn the chandelier on or off.
  • Dimming: This fixture is dimmable. If connected to a compatible dimmer switch (sold separately), you can adjust the light output to create various ambiances. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for incandescent loads and compatible with the total wattage of the bulbs (540 watts maximum).

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: To clean the fixture, turn off the power and allow it to cool. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, polishes, or solvents as they may damage the finish or glass.
  • Bulb Replacement: Turn off the power before replacing bulbs. Allow bulbs to cool completely. Unscrew old bulbs and replace with new candelabra base G16.5, 60-Watt maximum incandescent bulbs.
