1. Introduction

The Flip UltraHD Video Camera (3rd Generation) combines simple operation with high-definition video recording. This compact device is designed for easy capture, organization, editing, and sharing of your videos. Featuring image stabilization and a slim design, it records up to 2 hours of HD video to its internal 8 GB memory.

3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Battery

The Flip UltraHD comes with a rechargeable battery pack. It is recommended to charge the device by connecting it to a computer via the built-in USB arm. Ensure the batteries are charged overnight for optimal performance, especially when new. Three AAA batteries can be used as a backup power source.

3.2 Connecting to a Computer

To charge the camera and access your videos, extend the built-in USB arm and connect it to a USB port on your PC or Mac. The pre-loaded FlipShare software will launch automatically.

4. Operating the Camera

4.1 Powering On and Recording

To power on the camera, locate the power button on the side. Press the large red button on the back of the camera to begin capturing vibrant HD video. Press it again to stop recording.

4.2 Playback and Navigation

Use the navigation buttons around the red record button to browse through your recorded videos and photos on the 2-inch LCD screen. The play button initiates video playback, and a trash button is available for deleting unwanted footage.

4.3 Image Stabilization

The UltraHD features built-in image stabilization to help ensure clear and steady video, even when recording on the go.

5. Using FlipShare Software

The FlipShare software is pre-loaded onto your camera and launches automatically when connected to a computer. It provides tools for organizing, editing, and sharing your videos.

5.1 Organizing Videos

Easily organize your videos by dragging and dropping them into folders. The software also offers automatic date-stamped folders for convenience.

5.2 Editing and Creating

Use FlipShare's editing tools to trim video clips, add music, create video greeting cards, or use the Magic Movie feature for quick movie creation. You can also capture still images from any video frame using the Snapshot feature.

5.3 Sharing Videos

FlipShare simplifies sharing. You can email videos without worrying about file size, create private Flip Channels for sharing with groups, or post directly to platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

6. Maintenance

  • Keep the camera clean using a soft, dry cloth.
  • Avoid exposing the camera to extreme temperatures or moisture.
  • Store the camera in its soft case when not in use to protect it from scratches and dust.
  • Ensure the USB arm is retracted when not in use to prevent damage.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Camera Not Turning On

  • Ensure the rechargeable battery pack is fully charged. Connect the camera to a computer via USB and allow it to charge for several hours.
  • If the rechargeable battery is depleted, try using 3 fresh AAA batteries as a backup.

7.2 Video Playback Issues

  • If videos appear frozen or pixelated on your computer, ensure your computer's video drivers are up to date.
  • Try playing videos with different media players on your computer.

7.3 Connection Issues with Computer

  • Ensure the USB arm is fully extended and securely connected to a working USB port on your computer.
  • Try a different USB port or a different computer if available.
