Setup and Installation
This section outlines the general steps for installing the Westbrass Tip Toe Plumber's Pack. Specific plumbing configurations may vary. It is recommended to consult a professional plumber if you are unfamiliar with bathtub drain installations.
1. Determine Bath Shoe Size
Before installation, it is important to determine if your existing bath shoe or new plumbing requires a coarse thread (1-1/2 in. NPSM) or fine thread (1-1/4 in. NPSM) drain. This product is a 1-1/2 inch coarse thread drain.

2. Assemble Overflow and Shoe Elbows
Connect the ABS top elbow and shoe elbow using appropriate ABS cement and following local plumbing codes. Ensure a secure, watertight seal. The overflow faceplate will attach to the top elbow.

3. Install Drain Assembly
Apply plumber's putty or a silicone sealant around the underside of the drain flange. Insert the tip-toe drain assembly into the bathtub drain opening from above. From below, thread the shoe elbow onto the drain assembly, tightening it securely to create a watertight seal. Ensure gaskets are properly seated.
4. Connect to Waste Line
Connect the assembled overflow and shoe elbows to your existing or new waste line plumbing. This typically involves additional ABS piping and a tee connection, which are not included in this pack. Test for leaks by filling the tub with water and observing all connections.
Operation
The Westbrass Tip Toe Bathtub Drain features a simple push-to-open and push-to-close mechanism.
- To close the drain and retain water in the tub, press down firmly on the center of the drain stopper. It will click into the closed position.
- To open the drain and allow water to flow out, press down firmly on the center of the drain stopper again. It will click into the open position.

Maintenance
Regular cleaning will help maintain the appearance and function of your Westbrass drain assembly. Use a soft cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbing pads, as these can damage the finish.
Periodically check the drain stopper for hair or debris accumulation. The stopper can typically be removed by unscrewing it counter-clockwise for cleaning. Ensure all gaskets are properly seated upon reassembly.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Westbrass Tip Toe Plumber's Pack, refer to the common troubleshooting steps below.
Leaking Tip-Toe Bathtub Drains
If your tip-toe drain is leaking, it may be due to the tip-toe washer not engaging correctly with the stopper, allowing water to pass. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Remove the cap from the drain or the cartridge from the drain body.
- Fully open the drain and remove the cover cap.
- Tighten the screw inside the drain stopper using a screwdriver.
- Reinstall the drain and cover, ensuring all components are properly aligned and secured.
