  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the player.

4.2 Connecting Headphones

Connect your headphones to the player's headphone jack. The XP-SP90 uses a standard 3.5mm auxiliary connection.

  2. Insert the 3.5mm plug of your headphones firmly into the jack.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Loading a CD

  1. Slide the OPEN/LOCK switch to the "OPEN" position to release the lid.
  2. Gently lift the lid.
  3. Place a compact disc onto the center spindle with the label side facing up. Ensure the disc is seated correctly.
  4. Close the lid firmly until it locks into place.

5.2 Basic Playback

  1. Ensure batteries are installed and headphones are connected.
  2. Load a CD as described above.
  3. Press the PLAY button (often combined with the power button or a dedicated play button). The disc will begin to play, and the E.A.S.S. Track Time display will show the current track and elapsed time.
  4. Adjust the volume using the VOL +/- buttons.
  5. To stop playback, press the STOP/OFF/CHARGE button.

5.3 Using Skip/Search

  • To skip tracks: During playback, briefly press the >> button to go to the next track, or the << button to go to the beginning of the current track. Press << twice quickly to go to the previous track.
  • To search within a track: During playback, press and hold the >> button to fast-forward or the << button to fast-rewind. Release the button to resume normal playback.

5.4 Play Modes

Press the PLAY MODE button repeatedly to cycle through available playback modes, such as:

  • Normal Play: Plays all tracks in order once.
  • Repeat 1: Repeats the current track.
  • Repeat All: Repeats all tracks on the disc.
  • Random Play: Plays tracks in a random order.

5.5 DSL (Dynamic Super Linear Bass)

Press the DSL button to activate or deactivate the bass enhancement feature. When active, the sound will have a more pronounced bass response.

5.6 Using the HOLD Switch

Slide the HOLD switch to the "HOLD" position to disable all buttons. This prevents accidental changes to playback or power status, especially useful during active use. Slide it back to the "OFF" position to re-enable the buttons.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Player

  • Wipe the exterior of the player with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water and then wipe dry.
  • Never use abrasive cleaners, benzene, thinners, or other volatile solvents, as they may damage the finish.
  • To clean the lens inside the CD compartment, use a commercially available CD lens cleaner disc. Do not touch the lens directly.
