Setup

1. Connecting the Phone

  1. Connect one end of the coiled handset cord to the handset and the other end to the jack labeled HANDSET on the side of the telephone base.
  2. Connect one end of the telephone line cord to the jack labeled LINE on the back of the telephone base.
  3. Connect the other end of the telephone line cord to a standard telephone wall jack.

Note: This phone operates using power from the telephone line and does not require batteries or an AC adapter.

2. Mounting Options

The Emerson SO-EM2116 can be placed on a desk or mounted on a wall.

Operating Instructions

Making and Receiving Calls

Memory Dialing (10 Numbers)

The phone allows you to store up to 10 frequently called numbers for quick access. The buttons for these functions are located on the handset.

  1. To Store a Number:
    1. Lift the handset.
    2. Press the STORE button (or equivalent memory programming button).
    3. Dial the telephone number you wish to store (up to 16 digits).
    4. Press the STORE button again.
    5. Press a memory location button (e.g., 0-9, or M1-M10) to assign the number to that location.
    6. Place the handset back in the cradle.
  2. To Dial a Stored Number:
    1. Lift the handset.
    2. Press the RECALL or MEMORY button.
    3. Press the memory location button (e.g., 0-9, or M1-M10) where the number is stored. The phone will automatically dial the number.

Note: Specific button labels for memory functions may vary. Refer to the markings on your handset.

Handset Volume Control

During a call, use the volume control switch or buttons on the side of the handset to adjust the listening volume to a comfortable level.

Mute, Redial, and Flash Functions

Ringer On/Off Switch

Locate the RINGER ON/OFF switch on the side or back of the phone. Slide the switch to ON to enable the ringer for incoming calls, or to OFF to silence it.

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure the telephone line cord is securely connected to both the phone and the wall jack.
  • Test the wall jack with another working phone.
  • Check if your telephone service is active.
Phone does not ring.
  • Check the Ringer On/Off switch and ensure it is set to ON.
  • Verify that the telephone line is active and receiving calls.
Cannot hear caller / Caller cannot hear me.
  • Adjust the handset volume control.
  • If the caller cannot hear you, ensure the MUTE function is not active.
  • Check the coiled handset cord connection.
