Setup Instructions

- Position the Gooseneck: Adjust the flexible gooseneck to place the microphone capsule optimally relative to the instrument's sound source. Experiment with distance and angle to achieve the best sound.
- Connect the Cable:
- Connect the Mini XLR end of the provided cable to the microphone.
- The other end of the cable is also Mini XLR, typically used for connecting to compatible AKG wireless body-pack transmitters (e.g., PT40/45/450/470). If connecting to a standard mixer or audio interface with XLR inputs, an appropriate Mini XLR to standard XLR adapter cable (not included) will be required.
- Apply Phantom Power: The AKG C519 M is a condenser microphone and requires 48V phantom power to operate. Ensure your mixer or audio interface provides phantom power to the connected input channel. Failure to supply phantom power will result in no sound output.
- Install Windscreen: Place the W44 windscreen over the microphone capsule to reduce plosives and wind noise, especially in live or outdoor settings.
Operating Instructions
- Gain Staging: Set the input gain on your mixer or audio interface to an appropriate level. Start with the gain low and gradually increase it while playing your instrument until a strong signal is achieved without clipping (distortion).
- Bass Cut Switch: The C519 M features a switchable bass cut filter. If you experience excessive low-frequency rumble, feedback, or proximity effect (an increase in bass response when the microphone is very close to the sound source), engage the bass cut switch to attenuate these frequencies.
- Monitor Placement: Due to its cardioid polar pattern, the C519 M is designed to reject sound from the rear. Position stage monitors directly behind the microphone to minimize feedback.
- Cable Management: Secure the microphone cable to prevent accidental disconnections or interference with your performance.
Maintenance
