Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for optimal performance and to prevent the growth of mold and bacteria. Always unplug the humidifier before cleaning.
Daily Maintenance:
- Refill the water tank with fresh, cool tap water.
- Do not leave stagnant water in the tank or base for extended periods.
Weekly Cleaning:
- Empty Water: Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water from both the tank and the base.
- Clean Tank: Fill the water tank halfway with water and add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Shake vigorously and let stand for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with clean water until the vinegar smell is gone.
- Clean Base: Wipe the inside of the base with a soft cloth dampened with white vinegar. Rinse the base thoroughly with clean water.
- Clean Filter: If the filter appears discolored or stiff, it may need cleaning or replacement. You can gently rinse the filter under cool water to remove loose mineral deposits. Do not wring or twist the filter.
Filter Replacement:
The humidifier requires Holmes A or Sunbeam A Filter Models HWF62, SWF62, or SF212. Filters typically last 1 to 3 months, depending on water hardness and usage. Replace the filter when it becomes hard, discolored, or when mist output decreases significantly.
