Setup
1. Installing Batteries
The VoiceTrek VN-8100PC operates on two AAA batteries.
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the device (refer to Figure 3).
- Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: Use alkaline or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries. Battery life is approximately 51 hours for recording and 44 hours for playback.
2. Initial Power On and Language Setting
- Press and hold the POWER button (if available, otherwise assume a general power-on method).
- Upon first power-on, the device may prompt you to set the date, time, and language. Follow the on-screen instructions using the navigation buttons.
- Select "English" for the language setting.
Operating Instructions
1. Basic Recording
- To start recording, press the REC (Record) button. The recording indicator will light up, and the recording time will be displayed on the LCD.
- To pause recording, press the REC button again. Press it once more to resume.
- To stop recording, press the STOP button. The recorded file will be saved automatically.
2. Playback
- Navigate to the desired file using the Folder/Index button and the navigation arrows (<< / >>).
- Press the PLAY/OK button to start playback.
- To adjust volume, use the + and - buttons.
- To stop playback, press the STOP button.
3. Scene Select Mode
The Scene Select Mode optimizes recording settings for different situations:
- Memo: Ideal for quick personal notes.
- Business: Optimized for small group discussions.
- Conference: Best for larger meetings with multiple speakers.
To activate:
- Press the SCENE button.
- Use the navigation arrows to select the desired scene.
- Press OK to confirm.
- Tip: Long-press the SCENE button to quickly access and customize scene settings.
4. Advanced Playback Functions
- Fast/Slow Playback: During playback, press the PLAY/OK button again to enter speed adjustment mode. Use the navigation arrows to increase or decrease playback speed without changing pitch.
- Partial Repeat (A-B Repeat): During playback, press the REC button to set the start point (A). Press it again to set the end point (B) and repeat the section.
- Index Marks: To mark important points in a recording, press the Folder/Index button during recording or playback. You can add up to 16 index marks per file.
5. Connecting to a Computer
The VoiceTrek VN-8100PC can be connected to a computer for file transfer.
