Introduction

Important Safety Instructions

• Read all instructions before using the kettle.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

Setup

1. Unpacking: Remove all packaging materials and any promotional labels or stickers from your Cuisinart CPK-17 Programmable Kettle.
2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, fill the kettle with water to the MAX fill line. Bring the water to a boil (using the "Boil Black" setting). Discard the water and rinse the interior thoroughly. Repeat this process once more to ensure cleanliness.
3. Positioning: Place the power base on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Ensure the power cord is not dangling where it can be pulled or tripped over.

Operating Instructions

Filling the Kettle

Press the OPEN button located on the handle to open the lid. Fill the kettle with fresh, cold water. The blue backlit water level window on the side of the kettle indicates the water volume, with markings from 0.5 L (min) to 1.7 L (max). Do not fill below the minimum or above the maximum fill lines.

Placing on Power Base

Place the kettle securely onto its 360° swivel power base. The kettle is cordless when lifted from the base, allowing for easy pouring and serving.

Selecting Temperature and Starting

The control panel on the handle features 6 preset temperature buttons. Select the desired temperature based on your beverage:

• 160° Delicate: For delicate teas.
• 175° Green: For green teas.
• 185° White: For white teas.
• 190° Oolong: For Oolong teas.
• 200° French Press: For French press coffee.
• Boil Black: For black teas or boiling water.

After selecting the temperature, press the START button. The selected temperature button and the START button will illuminate with blue LED indicators. The kettle will begin heating the water.

Keep Warm Function

Once the water reaches the selected temperature, the kettle will beep three times and automatically activate the KEEP WARM function for 30 minutes. During this period, the kettle will maintain the water at the set temperature, reheating if necessary. To deactivate the Keep Warm function, press the KEEP WARM button again. The kettle will then cool down naturally.

Pouring

Carefully lift the kettle from its base and pour the heated water. The spout is designed to be drip-free for clean serving.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Exterior

Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the stainless steel finish.

Cleaning the Interior and Filter

The kettle features a removable and washable limescale filter located behind the spout. To remove, open the lid and gently pull the filter upwards. Rinse the filter under running water. For stubborn deposits, a soft brush can be used. Reinsert the filter by aligning it with the slots and pushing down until it clicks into place.

Descaling

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up on the interior of the kettle, especially in hard water areas. To descale, fill the kettle with a solution of 2 parts water to 1 part white vinegar. Bring the solution to a boil using the "Boil Black" setting. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes, then discard the solution and rinse the kettle thoroughly with fresh water. Repeat if necessary. Alternatively, a commercial descaling product designed for electric kettles can be used following the product's instructions.

Troubleshooting

• Kettle not heating: Ensure the kettle is properly seated on the power base and the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check if a temperature setting and the START button have been pressed.
• Water not reaching desired temperature: Verify that the correct temperature preset button was selected for your beverage.
• Excessive scale buildup: Perform descaling as described in the Maintenance section. Regular descaling is recommended, especially in hard water areas.
• Kettle leaks: Check that the lid is securely closed and the removable filter is correctly installed. If leaking persists, discontinue use and contact customer support.
• Automatic shut-off not working: The kettle has boil-dry protection and an auto-off function. If it fails to shut off, unplug immediately and contact customer support.
