Note: Light bulbs are not included with this fixture. You will need three G16.5 Candelabra (E12) base bulbs, maximum 40 watts each.
Setup and Installation
- Turn Off Power: Before starting, ensure the power to the circuit is turned off at the main fuse box or circuit breaker to prevent electrical shock.
- Prepare Mounting Surface: Ensure the electrical junction box is securely mounted to the ceiling structure and can support the fixture's weight (approximately 5.09 lbs).
- Install Mounting Strap: Attach the mounting strap to the outlet box using the provided outlet box screws. Ensure the strap is oriented correctly for the fixture.

- Wiring Connections:
- Connect the bare copper ground wire from the fixture to the green ground screw on the mounting strap.
- Connect the white wire from the fixture to the white (neutral) wire from the outlet box using a wire connector.
- Connect the black wire from the fixture to the black (hot) wire from the outlet box using a wire connector.
- Carefully tuck all wires into the outlet box.

- Attach Fixture Body: Align the fixture body with the mounting strap and secure it using the provided screws or nuts, ensuring it is flush against the ceiling.
- Install Bulbs: Screw three G16.5 Candelabra (E12) base bulbs (not included) into the sockets. Do not exceed 40 watts per bulb.
- Attach Glass Shade: Carefully place the alabaster dust glass shade onto the fixture and secure it according to the fixture's design (e.g., with finials or retaining rings).
- Restore Power: Once installation is complete, restore power at the main fuse box or circuit breaker.
Operating Instructions
The Minka Lavery Calavera 687-14 Semi-Flush Ceiling Light is operated via a standard wall switch (not included). Ensure the wall switch is in the "ON" position to illuminate the fixture.
- To turn the light on, flip the wall switch to the "ON" position.
- To turn the light off, flip the wall switch to the "OFF" position.
Note: This fixture is compatible with dimmer switches, provided the installed bulbs are also dimmable. Consult your dimmer switch and bulb manufacturer's instructions for compatibility and installation.
Maintenance
Cleaning
- Always disconnect power before cleaning.
- To clean the fixture, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or polishes as they may damage the finish.
- For the glass shade, a mild glass cleaner applied to a cloth (not directly to the fixture) can be used, then wipe dry.
Bulb Replacement
- Turn off power at the circuit breaker or wall switch.
- Allow bulbs to cool completely before touching.
- Carefully remove the glass shade.
- Unscrew the old bulb and replace it with a new G16.5 Candelabra (E12) base bulb, not exceeding 40 watts.
- Reattach the glass shade.
- Restore power.
