1. Introduction and Overview

2. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your PlayStation 3 Slim console:

1. Connect to Power: Plug the AC power cord into the AC IN connector on the back of the PS3 system, then plug the other end into a wall outlet.
2. Connect to TV: Use an HDMI cable (sold separately) to connect the HDMI OUT port on the PS3 system to the HDMI IN port on your television for optimal high-definition video and audio. Alternatively, use an AV cable for standard definition.

3. Operating the Console

3.1 Powering On/Off

• To Power On: Press the power button (I/O) on the front of the console or the PS button on a paired controller. The power indicator will turn green.
• To Power Off: Hold the power button on the console for a few seconds until the system beeps and shuts down, or select 'Turn Off System' from the XMB. The power indicator will turn red.

• To Insert: Gently slide a Blu-ray Disc or DVD into the disc slot on the front of the console with the label side facing up. The system will automatically pull the disc in.
• To Eject: Press the eject button (triangle icon) on the front of the console.

Connect to the PlayStation Network to access online multiplayer gaming, download digital games and content from the PlayStation Store, and stream media. A free PlayStation Network membership is included.
