1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the HOKCO Weather Station. This device is designed to provide accurate local environmental readings, combining an aneroid barometer, an analog thermometer, and a spiral hygrometer into a single, elegant unit. This manual will guide you through the setup, operation, calibration, and maintenance of your weather station to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
2. Product Overview
The HOKCO Weather Station features a classic round design with three distinct analog dials for monitoring atmospheric pressure, temperature, and humidity. The unit is encased in a solid beech wood frame with a charcoal gray finish, complementing various indoor or outdoor settings.

Figure 1: Front view of the HOKCO Weather Station, displaying the barometer (top), hygrometer (bottom left), and thermometer (bottom right).
Key Features:
- Aneroid Barometer: Measures atmospheric pressure with weather forecast symbols.
- Analog Thermometer: Displays temperature in Fahrenheit.
- Spiral Hygrometer: Indicates relative humidity as a percentage.
- Durable Construction: Solid beech wood frame with a charcoal gray finish.
- Compact Design: 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) diameter, 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) depth.
3. Setup and Installation
Proper placement and installation are crucial for accurate readings from your weather station.
3.1 Choosing a Location
- Select a location that is representative of the general outdoor conditions, but protected from direct sunlight, rain, and extreme temperature fluctuations (e.g., near heating vents or air conditioners).
- For indoor use, choose a central location away from direct drafts or heat sources.
- Ensure the barometer operates within its specified altitude range (maximum 3,800 ft. above sea level). Operation above this altitude may result in inaccurate pressure readings.
3.2 Mounting the Weather Station
The weather station is designed for wall mounting. Use the integrated mounting hole on the back of the unit.

Figure 2: Back view of the weather station, indicating the backside mounting hole and calibration points.
- Select a suitable screw or nail (not included) for your wall type.
- Securely fasten the screw/nail into the wall, leaving a small portion protruding.
- Align the backside mounting hole (indicated in Figure 2) with the screw/nail and hang the weather station securely.
4. Operation
Once installed, your weather station will continuously display current environmental conditions.
4.1 Reading the Barometer
- The top dial displays atmospheric pressure in inches of Mercury (in. Hg).
- The black needle indicates the current pressure.
- The red needle is an adjustable pointer. Rotate the central knob on the front of the unit to align the red needle with the black needle. This allows you to track changes in pressure over time.
- Rising pressure generally indicates improving weather, while falling pressure suggests deteriorating conditions. Weather symbols (sun, clouds, rain) are provided as general indicators.
4.2 Reading the Thermometer
- The bottom-right dial shows the ambient temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (°F).
- The range is from -20°F to 120°F.
4.3 Reading the Hygrometer
- The bottom-left dial displays the relative humidity as a percentage (%).
- The range is from 0% to 100% RH.
5. Calibration
For optimal accuracy, it is recommended to calibrate your weather station upon initial setup and periodically thereafter. You will need a reliable reference instrument for each measurement (e.g., a local weather report for barometric pressure, a known accurate thermometer, and a known accurate hygrometer).
5.1 Barometer Calibration
- Obtain the current local barometric pressure reading from a reliable source (e.g., a local airport, weather service, or a known calibrated barometer). Ensure the reading is corrected for your altitude if your source provides sea-level pressure.
- Locate the Barometer Calibration Screw on the back of the unit (refer to Figure 2).
- Using a small flat-head screwdriver, carefully turn the screw until the black needle on the barometer dial matches the accurate local pressure reading. Tap the glass gently to settle the needle.
5.2 Thermometer Calibration
- Place the weather station next to a known accurate thermometer for at least 30 minutes to allow temperatures to stabilize.
- Locate the Thermometer Calibration Slot on the back of the unit (refer to Figure 2).
- Using a small flat-head screwdriver, carefully turn the screw inside the slot until the thermometer needle matches the reading of your reference thermometer.
5.3 Hygrometer Calibration
- Place the weather station next to a known accurate hygrometer for at least 30 minutes to allow humidity levels to stabilize.
- Locate the Hygrometer Calibration Slot on the back of the unit (refer to Figure 2).
- Using a small flat-head screwdriver, carefully turn the screw inside the slot until the hygrometer needle matches the reading of your reference hygrometer.
6. Maintenance
Your HOKCO Weather Station requires minimal maintenance to ensure continued accuracy and appearance.
- Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish or the instrument dials.
- Protection: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures, direct water, or high humidity environments for prolonged periods, especially if used outdoors.
- Recalibration: Periodically check the accuracy of your instruments against reliable sources and recalibrate if necessary.
7. Troubleshooting
Inaccurate Readings:
- Barometer: Ensure the unit is within the specified altitude range (max 3,800 ft.). Verify calibration against a reliable local source. Tap the glass gently to ensure the needle is not stuck.
- Thermometer/Hygrometer: Ensure the unit is not exposed to direct sunlight, heat sources, or drafts. Verify calibration against a reliable reference instrument.
Needle Not Moving:
- Gently tap the glass face of the instrument. Sometimes, needles can become temporarily stuck.
- Ensure the unit is placed in an environment where conditions are actually changing if you expect movement.
- If an instrument consistently shows no movement or incorrect readings after calibration attempts, contact customer support.
