Before First Use
Before using your Cuisinart PerfecTemp Electric Kettle for the first time, remove any dust from shipping by wiping the base and exterior with a damp cloth. Wash the interior of the kettle by filling it with water to the MAX line, boiling the water, and then discarding it. Repeat this process twice.
Setup
- Place the power base on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Ensure the power cord is plugged into a standard electrical outlet.
- Press the 'OPEN' button on the handle to open the lid.
- Fill the kettle with fresh, cold water to the desired level, observing the water window. Do not fill below the MIN line or above the MAX line.
- Close the lid securely.
- Place the kettle firmly on the power base.
Operating Instructions
Selecting Temperature
The Cuisinart PerfecTemp Electric Kettle offers six preset temperature settings for optimal brewing:
- 160°F (Delicate): Ideal for delicate teas.
- 175°F (Green): Perfect for green teas.
- 185°F (White): Recommended for white teas.
- 190°F (Oolong): Best for oolong teas.
- 200°F (French Press): Optimal for French press coffee.
- Boil (212°F): For black teas, instant cocoa, oatmeal, noodles, and other instant foods.
Press the desired temperature button. The selected button and the 'START' button will illuminate with blue LED indicators. Press 'START' to begin the heating cycle. The blue backlight in the water window will also illuminate.
Keep Warm Mode
The 'KEEP WARM' function automatically maintains the selected temperature for 30 minutes after the heating cycle is complete. If the 'Boil' preset is selected, the unit will hold a temperature just below boiling during the Keep Warm cycle. To activate or deactivate 'KEEP WARM' at any time, press the 'KEEP WARM' button. The indicator light will show its status.
Memory Feature
The kettle features an internal memory that allows you to lift it off the base for up to 2 minutes without it going into standby mode. When returned to the base, it will restart the heating and/or Keep Warm cycles right where they left off.
Boil-Dry Protection
Your kettle is equipped with boil-dry protection. If it starts heating without enough water, the heater will automatically shut off to prevent damage. The lights will flash and the unit will beep to alert you. Once the kettle has cooled down, lift it off the base, then replace it to reset and restart the heating cycle. Filling the kettle with cold water is the quickest way to cool it down.
Sleep Mode
If the unit is not in use for 5 minutes, it will revert to sleep mode. The heater and all lights will turn off, but your last selections will remain in the unit’s memory. To reactivate the kettle, simply press any button, or lift it up and then return it to the base.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Descaling
Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in the kettle over time, affecting performance. To descale, fill the kettle with 2 cups of white vinegar and the remainder with water. Bring to a boil and let stand overnight. Empty the solution and fill the kettle with clean water, bring to a boil, and discard. Repeat this process until the vinegar odor is gone. For heavy buildup, repeat the process.
Cleaning the Filter
The removable scale filter can be cleaned by rinsing it under hot water and brushing with a clean brush if necessary. Ensure it is properly reinserted before use.
Exterior Cleaning
Wipe the exterior of the kettle and power base with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the stainless steel finish. Ensure the kettle and base are completely dry before storing or using.
