The Oregon Scientific PFA-112 is a compact device designed to measure body fat percentage, in addition to functioning as a clock, alarm, and timer. It features an easy-to-read LCD display and intuitive button controls.

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back or bottom of the device.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert the required batteries (e.g., 2x AAA, not included) according to the polarity indicators (+ and -).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2 Initial Time Setting

  1. Press and hold the CLOCK button until the time display starts flashing.
  2. Use the Up/Down arrows (or repeated presses of the CLOCK button if it cycles) to adjust the hour.
  3. Press SET to confirm the hour and move to minutes.
  4. Adjust the minutes using the Up/Down arrows.
  5. Press SET to confirm and exit time setting mode.

3.3 User Profile Setup (for Body Fat Analysis)

Before taking body fat measurements, you must set up your personal profile. This typically includes gender, height, weight, and age.

  1. Press and hold the FAT % button until the display enters profile setup mode.
  2. Use the Up/Down arrows to select a user number (e.g., P1, P2). Press SET.
  3. Adjust gender (Male/Female) using Up/Down arrows. Press SET.
  4. Adjust height (e.g., in cm or inches). Press SET.
  5. Adjust weight (e.g., in kg or lbs). Press SET.
  6. Adjust age. Press SET to save the profile and exit.

4. Operation

4.1 Using the Clock

In normal display mode, the device shows the current time. To adjust the time, refer to section 3.2.

4.2 Setting and Using the Alarm

  1. Press the ALARM button once to display the current alarm time.
  2. Press and hold the ALARM button until the alarm time flashes.
  3. Use the Up/Down arrows to set the desired alarm hour. Press SET.
  4. Adjust the minutes. Press SET to confirm.
  5. To activate/deactivate the alarm, press the ALARM button briefly when the alarm time is displayed. An alarm icon will appear/disappear on the screen.

4.3 Using the Timer

  1. Press the TIMER button once to enter timer mode.
  2. Press and hold the TIMER button until the timer digits flash.
  3. Use the Up/Down arrows to set the desired countdown time (hours, minutes, seconds). Press SET after each segment.
  4. Press START to begin the countdown.
  5. Press START again to pause/resume the timer.
  6. To stop and reset the timer, press and hold TIMER while it is paused or running.

4.4 Measuring Body Fat Percentage

For accurate measurements, ensure your hands are clean and dry. Avoid taking measurements immediately after exercise, showering, or consuming large amounts of water.

  1. Select your user profile by pressing the FAT % button repeatedly until your profile number (e.g., P1) is displayed.
  2. Hold the device firmly with both hands, ensuring your thumbs are placed on the metal sensors (if applicable, based on device design).
  3. Press the START button. The device will begin the measurement process.
  4. Remain still until the measurement is complete and your body fat percentage is displayed on the screen.
  5. The device may also display other metrics like BMI or BMR depending on its capabilities.

When the display becomes dim or the device stops functioning, replace the batteries. Refer to section 3.1 for battery installation instructions. Always replace all batteries at the same time with new ones of the same type.

Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
