Important Safety Information
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in fire, electric shock, serious injury, or property damage.
- Always turn off power to the disposer at the circuit breaker before attempting to install, service, or clean the unit.
- Do not put hands or utensils into the disposer while it is operating.
- Never dispose of highly fibrous materials like corn husks, artichokes, or onion skins, as these can clog the drain.
- Avoid disposing of large amounts of grease or fat, as they can solidify and cause blockages.
- Do not use caustic chemical drain cleaners, as they can damage the disposer and plumbing.
- Ensure the disposer is properly grounded to prevent electrical shock.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Setup and Installation
The InSinkErator Evergrind E101 features a Quick Lock mounting system designed for fast and easy installation, often compatible with existing InSinkErator mounts. This model is a non-corded unit, meaning a power cord accessory kit (sold separately) or direct wiring to an existing electrical connection is required.
Installation Steps:
- Preparation: Ensure power to the circuit is off at the breaker. Remove any existing disposer or sink flange. Clean the sink opening thoroughly.
- Mounting Assembly: Apply plumber's putty around the sink flange and press it firmly into the sink opening. From underneath the sink, install the fiber gasket, backup flange, and mounting ring. Secure with the snap ring and tighten the mounting screws evenly.
- Electrical Connection: For non-corded models, connect the disposer's electrical wires to the household wiring or a power cord kit according to local electrical codes. Ensure proper grounding.
- Dishwasher Connection (if applicable): If connecting a dishwasher, remove the knockout plug from the disposer's dishwasher inlet using a screwdriver and hammer.
- Drain Connection: Connect the disposer's discharge tube to the household drain pipe. If replacing an older unit, you may need to adjust or replumb the drain pipes to align with the E101's outlet position.
- Attach Disposer: Align the disposer's three mounting tabs with the mounting ring. Twist the disposer until the tabs lock into place.
- Test: Restore power, check for leaks, and test the unit with water.

Operating Instructions
To operate your InSinkErator Evergrind E101 garbage disposer, follow these simple steps:
- Turn on a medium stream of cold water.
- Turn on the disposer by flipping the wall switch.
- Scrape food waste into the sink opening. Do not overload the disposer.
- Continue running cold water for a few seconds after grinding is complete to flush the drain line.
- Turn off the disposer, then turn off the water.
Note: Always use cold water when operating the disposer. Cold water keeps grease and fats in a solid state so they can be flushed away, preventing clogs.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and efficient performance of your Evergrind E101 disposer.
- Clean Regularly: Grind small bones or fruit pits occasionally to help scour the grind chamber.
- Deodorize: To eliminate odors, grind citrus peels (lemon, orange) with cold water.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Never use chemical drain cleaners, as they can corrode metal parts and void your warranty.
- Clear Minor Jams: If the disposer hums but doesn't grind, turn off the power, insert an Allen wrench (provided with the unit) into the center hole at the bottom of the disposer, and turn it back and forth to free the impellers.
