Important Safety Information
Please read all instructions carefully before using the Simran SYM-800 Voltage Converter. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or damage to the unit or connected appliances. Keep this manual for future reference.
- Wattage Matching: Always ensure the wattage of your appliance does not exceed the converter's maximum capacity (800W). For continuous use, allow at least a 100% safety margin (e.g., for a 400W appliance, use an 800W converter).
- Surge Protection: For heating appliances, laser printers, and power tools, which experience power spikes upon startup, use a converter with at least three times the appliance's rated wattage. For televisions, allow a five-times wattage margin.
- Ventilation: Place the converter in a well-ventilated area. Do not cover the ventilation openings.
- Environment: Do not expose the unit to moisture, rain, or extreme temperatures. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Casing: Do not open the converter's casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
- Children: Keep the converter out of reach of children.
- Unplug When Not In Use: Always unplug the converter from the wall outlet when it is not in use.

Setup Instructions
- Unpack the Converter: Carefully remove the Simran SYM-800 from its packaging and inspect it for any signs of damage.
- Choose a Location: Place the converter on a stable, flat, and dry surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. Avoid placing it near heat sources, in direct sunlight, or in areas with high humidity.
- Calculate Appliance Wattage:
- Identify the wattage (W) of the appliance you intend to connect. This information is usually found on the appliance's label or in its manual.
- For most appliances, select a converter with at least double the appliance's wattage for safe, continuous operation.
- For appliances with motors, heating elements, or high startup surges (e.g., laser printers, power tools, refrigerators), choose a converter with at least three times the appliance's wattage.
- For televisions, a converter with at least five times the appliance's wattage is recommended.
- Do not exceed the SYM-800's maximum capacity of 800 Watts.
- Connect Converter to Power Source:
- The SYM-800 automatically detects the input voltage (110/120V or 220/240V). No manual voltage selection switch is required.
- Plug the converter's power cord into the appropriate wall outlet. Use the included 2-prong USA adapter if connecting to a US/Canadian 110/120V outlet.
- Connect Appliance to Converter: Plug your appliance's power cord into one of the three universal outlets located on the rear panel of the Simran SYM-800.
Operating Instructions
- Power On: Once the converter and appliance are connected, press the On/Off switch located on the unit. The indicator lamp will illuminate, signifying that the converter is powered on.
- Monitor Voltage: The analog meter on the front panel will display the exact input voltage, allowing you to confirm the power supply.
- Use Appliance: You can now operate your connected appliance.
- Power Off: When you are finished using the appliance, press the On/Off switch again to turn off the converter. The indicator lamp will extinguish.
- Disconnect: Always unplug the converter from the wall outlet when it is not in use for extended periods.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Disconnect the converter from the power source before cleaning. Wipe the exterior of the unit with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners, abrasive pads, or chemical solvents, as these can damage the casing.
- Storage: When not in use, store the converter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Fuse Replacement: The SYM-800 is fuse protected. If the unit ceases to function, the internal fuse may have blown due to an overload or fault. Fuse replacement should only be performed by a qualified technician. Do not attempt to replace the fuse yourself.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Simran SYM-800 converter, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Power to Converter:
- Ensure the converter's power cord is securely plugged into a functional wall outlet.
- Check that the On/Off switch is in the 'On' position and the indicator lamp is illuminated.
- Test the wall outlet with another device to confirm it is supplying power.
- If the unit remains unresponsive, the internal fuse may have blown. Contact customer support or a qualified technician.
- Appliance Not Working When Connected:
- Verify that your appliance is correctly plugged into one of the converter's outlets.
- Confirm that the appliance's own power switch is turned on.
- Recheck the wattage requirements of your appliance against the converter's capacity, including surge allowances. An overloaded converter will not function correctly.
- Ensure the converter is powered on (indicator lamp illuminated).
- Converter Overheating:
- Ensure the converter is placed in a well-ventilated area with no obstructions to airflow.
- Reduce the load on the converter by disconnecting high-wattage appliances if it is operating near its maximum capacity.
- Unplug the unit and allow it to cool down completely before attempting to use it again.
