Controls and Indicators:

4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
The HR-500 operates on three AA alkaline batteries (not included) or an external power source. To install batteries:
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
- Insert three AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Alternatively, connect the supplied AC adapter to the DC IN jack on the unit and plug it into a standard AC outlet (100V). For car use, a 12V car battery adapter can be used (sold separately).
4.2. Antenna Connection
Attach the flexible antenna to the BNC connector on the top of the receiver by aligning the antenna's connector with the receiver's BNC port and twisting clockwise until secure.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Power On/Off
Press and hold the POWER button to turn the receiver on or off.
5.2. Setting Reception Frequency and Mode
- Direct Frequency Entry: Use the numeric keypad to enter the desired frequency. Press the DECIDE (決定) button to confirm.
- Mode Selection: Press the MODE button repeatedly to cycle through FM, AM, and AUTO reception modes.
- Frequency Step: Press the STEP button to select the desired frequency step size (5kHz, 6.25kHz, 10kHz, 12.5kHz, 25kHz, AUTO).
5.3. Scanning and Searching
The HR-500 features various scanning and searching functions:
- Scan Function: Press the SCAN button to start scanning through programmed memory channels. The scan speed is up to 30 channels/second.
- Search Function: Press the SEARCH button to search within a specified frequency range. The search speed is 30 steps/second.
- Memory Channels: The unit has 500 total memory channels, including 234 registered frequencies, 100 search pass memories, and 10 priority channels. Channels are organized into 10 banks, with 50 channels per bank.
5.4. Volume Adjustment
Rotate the VOLUME knob to adjust the audio output level. The low frequency output is 90mW or more (at 4.5V, 8Ω, THD 10%).
6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning
Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong detergents, as these may damage the casing or internal components.
6.2. Battery Care
