Important Safety Instructions

  • To disconnect heater, turn controls to off, then remove plug from outlet.
  • Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
  • To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  • A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
  • Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • This heater includes a tip-over safety switch that automatically shuts off the unit if it is accidentally tipped over.
  • The heater is equipped with overheat protection. If the heater overheats, it will automatically shut off. Unplug the heater and allow it to cool for 30 minutes before restarting.

The SPT SH-1960B is a tower ceramic heater designed to provide supplemental warmth to indoor spaces. It features a PTC ceramic heating element, digital thermostat with LCD display, remote control, and an 8-hour timer. The oscillating function ensures widespread heat distribution.

Control Panel

The control panel, located on the top of the heater, allows for direct adjustment of settings.

Remote Control

The included remote control provides convenient operation from a distance. It requires two AAA batteries (not included).

Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the heater from its packaging. Retain packaging for off-season storage.
  2. Placement: Place the heater on a firm, level surface. Ensure there is at least 3 feet (0.9 meters) of clear space around the heater to allow for proper air circulation and to prevent fire hazards. Do not place the heater directly under a power outlet.
  3. Power Connection: Plug the heater directly into a 110V AC, 60Hz wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips, as these may overheat and create a fire risk. Ensure the plug is fully inserted into the outlet.
  4. Remote Control Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the remote control and insert two AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity.

Operating Instructions

Operate the heater using either the control panel on the unit or the remote control.

Power On/Off

  • Press the Power button on the control panel or remote control to turn the heater on or off.
  • When turned on, the heater will typically default to a low heat setting or the last used setting.

Mode Settings

Press the Power Mode button on the control panel or the Mode button on the remote control to cycle through the available settings:

  • High Heat (1500W): Provides maximum heat output.
  • Low Heat (900W): Provides reduced heat output for energy efficiency.
  • Auto Heat: The heater will turn on or off to maintain a set temperature.
  • Fan Only: Circulates air without heat, useful for cooling.

Temperature Adjustment

  • In Auto Heat mode, use the Temp +/- buttons on the control panel or remote to set your desired temperature (range typically 50-86°F).
  • The heater will activate when the room temperature falls 2 degrees below the set temperature and deactivate when it rises 2 degrees above.

Oscillation Function

  • Press the OSC. button on the control panel or remote control to activate or deactivate the oscillation function.
  • When active, the heater will rotate from side to side to distribute heat more widely.

Timer Function

  • Press the Timer button on the control panel or the Set Time button on the remote control to set an automatic shut-off time.
  • Each press will increase the timer by one hour, up to a maximum of 8 hours. The display will show the remaining time.
  • To cancel the timer, cycle through the settings until the timer display is off, or turn the unit off.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your heater.

Cleaning the Unit

  1. Always unplug the heater and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces of the heater. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  3. Do not immerse the heater in water or allow water to drip into the interior.

Filter Cleaning

The heater features a removable air inlet grill with a filter. Regularly clean the filter to maintain air quality and heater efficiency.

  1. Ensure the heater is unplugged and cool.
  2. Locate the air inlet grill, typically at the rear or side of the unit.
  3. Carefully remove the filter.
  4. Clean the filter using a vacuum cleaner or by rinsing it under cool water. If rinsing, ensure the filter is completely dry before reinserting.
  5. Reinsert the clean filter and secure the air inlet grill.

Storage

When not in use, store the heater in a cool, dry location. It is recommended to store it in its original packaging to protect it from dust and damage.

Troubleshooting

If your heater is not operating correctly, consult the following table for common issues and solutions.
