Setup
1. Package Contents
Ensure all items are present:
- AT&T TL86109 Corded Base System
- Corded Handset
- Cordless Handset
- Cordless Handset Charger
- Power Adapters (for base and charger)
- Telephone Line Cords
- Rechargeable Battery Pack for Cordless Handset
2. Battery Installation (Cordless Handset)
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the cordless handset.
- Slide the cover down to remove it.
- Connect the battery pack plug into the jack inside the compartment, ensuring correct polarity.
- Place the battery pack into the compartment.
- Slide the battery compartment cover back into place until it clicks.
3. Connecting the Base Unit
- Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE 1 jack on the back of the base unit.
- Plug the other end into a telephone wall jack. For two-line service, repeat for TEL LINE 2.
- Plug the small end of the base unit power adapter into the POWER jack on the back of the base unit.
- Plug the large end of the power adapter into an electrical outlet not controlled by a wall switch.

4. Charging the Handset
Place the cordless handset in the base unit or the cordless handset charger with the display facing up. The CHARGE light on the handset will illuminate, indicating proper charging. Allow at least 16 hours for the initial charge.
Operating Instructions
Making and Receiving Calls
- To Make a Call: Press LINE 1 or LINE 2 (for landline) or CELLULAR (for paired cell phone) and dial the number.
- To Answer a Call: Press any talk key (LINE 1, LINE 2, CELLULAR, or SPEAKER).
- To End a Call: Press OFF/CLEAR or place the handset back in the cradle.
Bluetooth Connect to Cell
This feature allows you to make and receive cellular calls using your AT&T phone system.
- Pairing a Cell Phone:
- On the base unit, press MENU/SELECT.
- Scroll to Bluetooth and press SELECT.
- Select Add New Device.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to put your cell phone in pairing mode and connect.
- Downloading Phonebook Entries: Once paired, you can download up to 6,000 cellular phonebook entries to the system handsets. Refer to the full user manual for detailed steps.
Digital Answering System
The base unit features a digital answering system.
- Turning On/Off: Press ON/OFF ANS SYS on the base unit.
- Playing Messages: Press PLAY/STOP on the base unit. You can also access messages from any handset.
- Recording a Greeting: Follow the menu prompts on the base unit or handset to personalize your outgoing message.
Intercom and Call Transfer
- Intercom: To call another handset, press INT on your handset and select the desired handset number.
- Call Transfer: During an active call, press INT, select the handset to transfer to, and then hang up once the other handset answers.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the phone and charger with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use cleaning sprays or harsh chemicals.
- Battery Care: To maintain optimal battery life, fully discharge the cordless handset battery periodically by using the phone until it indicates low battery, then fully recharge it.
