Key Components:

  • Main Unit: Houses the motors, tanks, and controls.
  • Vacuum Hose: Flexible hose for suction.
  • Solution Hose: Connects to the solution pump for dispensing cleaning liquid.
  • Extension Wands: For extended reach with floor tools.
  • Floor Tool: For cleaning carpets and hard floors.
  • Upholstery Tool: For cleaning furniture and smaller areas.
  • 3M Filter: Internal filtration system.

Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
  2. Connect Vacuum Hose: Insert the large end of the vacuum hose into the suction port on the main unit until it clicks securely into place.
  3. Connect Solution Hose: Attach the smaller solution hose to the corresponding quick-connect fitting on the main unit. Ensure a tight connection to prevent leaks.
  4. Assemble Wands/Tools:
    • For floor cleaning, connect the extension wands to the end of the vacuum hose, then attach the floor tool.
    • For upholstery or spot cleaning, attach the upholstery tool directly to the vacuum hose or with a single extension wand if needed.
  5. Fill Solution Tank: Open the solution tank cap (typically located on the top or side of the unit). Fill with clean water and the recommended amount of Thermax cleaning solution. Do not overfill. Close the cap securely.
  6. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Dry Vacuuming:

  1. Ensure the solution tank is empty or the solution pump is off.
  2. Turn on the vacuum motor switch.
  3. Use the appropriate tool to vacuum dry debris from carpets or hard floors.
  4. Empty the recovery tank when full or after each use.

Wet Extraction (Shampooing):

  1. Ensure the solution tank is filled with water and cleaning solution.
  2. Turn on both the vacuum motor switch and the solution pump switch.
  3. For carpets, make slow, overlapping passes. Press the solution trigger on the wand to apply cleaning solution as you push the tool forward. Release the trigger and pull the tool back slowly to extract the dirty solution.
  4. For upholstery, test a small, inconspicuous area first. Apply solution sparingly and extract immediately.
  5. Repeat passes until the extracted water appears clean.
  6. Empty the recovery tank frequently to prevent overflow and maintain suction.
  7. For best results, allow cleaned areas to dry thoroughly before walking on them.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Thermax AF unit.

  • Empty and Rinse Tanks: After each wet use, empty both the solution and recovery tanks. Rinse them thoroughly with clean water to prevent residue buildup and odors.
  • Clean Filters: The 3M filter should be regularly inspected and cleaned according to the manufacturer's instructions. A clogged filter can reduce suction power.
  • Clean Hoses and Tools: Rinse vacuum and solution hoses, wands, and tools with clean water to remove any debris or cleaning solution residue.
  • Check for Blockages: Periodically check hoses and tools for any blockages that might impede airflow or solution flow.
  • Cord Care: Inspect the power cord for any cuts or damage. Wrap the cord neatly after use.
  • Storage: Store the unit in a clean, dry place, away from extreme temperatures. Ensure all tanks are empty and dry before storage.
