2. Safety Information

WARNING: Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

  • Do not charge batteries in damp or wet locations.
  • Use only PORTER-CABLE batteries with this charger. Other batteries may burst, causing personal injury and damage.
  • Do not use the charger for any purpose other than charging PORTER-CABLE rechargeable batteries.
  • Do not expose the charger to rain or snow.
  • Never attempt to open the charger. If the charger is damaged, take it to an authorized PORTER-CABLE service center.
  • Do not operate the charger with a damaged cord or plug.
  • Ensure the charger is placed on a stable, non-flammable surface during use.
  • Keep the charger away from children.

3. Product Features

  • Multi-Chemistry Compatibility: Charges any PORTER-CABLE slide pack NiCad or Lithium Ion battery.

4. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the charger from its packaging. Inspect for any damage that may have occurred during shipping.
  2. Placement: Place the charger on a dry, stable surface, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture. Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger.
  3. Power Connection: Plug the charger's power cord into a standard 240 Volt AC electrical outlet. The charger is now ready for use.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Charging a Battery Pack

  1. Ensure the charger is plugged into a working power outlet.
  2. Slide the battery pack onto the charger, aligning the grooves on the battery with the rails on the charger. Push firmly until the battery pack clicks into place.
  3. The charger will automatically begin the charging process. Refer to the indicator lights for status.
  4. Once charging is complete, remove the battery pack by pressing the release button (if present on your battery) and sliding it off the charger.
  5. Unplug the charger from the outlet when not in use.

5.2 Indicator Lights

Indicator Status Meaning
Solid Green Light Battery is fully charged.
Flashing Green Light Battery is currently charging.
Solid Red Light (or Flashing Red/Green) Bad Pack Indicator: The battery pack is defective and cannot be charged. It needs to be replaced.
Flashing Red Light Hot Pack Indicator: The battery pack is too hot to charge. The charger will wait for the battery to cool down before beginning or resuming charging.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the charger from the power outlet before cleaning. Use a dry cloth to wipe dust and debris from the charger's exterior. Do not use water or harsh chemicals.
  • Storage: Store the charger in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid storing it in areas with extreme temperatures or high humidity.
  • Cord Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord for any signs of damage, such as cuts or fraying. If damaged, have it replaced by a qualified service technician.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Charger not operating. No power to the charger. Check if the charger is properly plugged into a live outlet. Test the outlet with another appliance.
Bad Pack Indicator (Solid Red/Flashing Red/Green) is on. Battery pack is defective. Replace the battery pack. The charger cannot repair a defective battery.
Hot Pack Indicator (Flashing Red) is on. Battery pack is too hot. Allow the battery pack to cool down. The charger will automatically begin charging once the temperature is safe. Avoid charging immediately after heavy use.
Battery not fully charging. Battery pack is old or worn out. Consider replacing the battery pack. Battery capacity naturally diminishes over time.
