Maintenance
Cleaning the Device
Regularly clean the camera head and gooseneck probe, especially after use in dirty or wet environments. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the surfaces. Ensure the camera head is free of debris to maintain clear image quality. The camera head is waterproof, but avoid submerging the main unit or monitor.
Storage
When not in use, store the Extech BR250 and all its accessories in the provided hard carrying case. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to prolong the life of the device and its components.
Battery Care
Remove AA batteries from the camera unit if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage. Ensure the monitor's rechargeable battery is periodically charged to maintain its health, even if not in frequent use.
Troubleshooting
Poor Image Quality or Focus
- Check Lighting: Ensure the adjustable LED lights on the camera head are set to an appropriate brightness for the environment. In very dark or large spaces, supplemental lighting may be necessary.
- Clean Camera Lens: Dust or debris on the camera lens can obscure the image. Gently clean the lens with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Optimal Distance: The camera has a fixed focal length. Try adjusting the distance between the camera head and the object being inspected to achieve the clearest image.
- Resolution Settings: Verify that the image and video resolution settings in the monitor's menu are appropriate for your needs.
Wireless Display Signal Issues
- Range: The wireless monitor has a range of up to 32 feet (10 meters). Signal degradation or interference may occur at the limits of this range or in environments with significant obstacles.
- Interference: Other wireless devices or strong electromagnetic fields can cause interference. Try moving away from such sources if possible.
- Battery Level: Ensure both the main unit and the monitor have sufficient battery charge. Low battery can affect wireless performance.
Gooseneck Probe Instability
- The gooseneck is designed to retain its shape. If it feels unstable, ensure it is securely attached to the main unit. For very long or complex reaches, additional support for the cable may be beneficial.
Data Transfer Problems
- MicroSD Card: Ensure the microSD card is properly inserted and not full. Try reformatting the card (this will erase all data) if issues persist.
- USB Connection: Verify the USB cable is securely connected to both the monitor and the computer. Try a different USB port or cable if necessary.
- Software: Ensure your computer's operating system has the necessary drivers or software to recognize the device or read the microSD card.
