Setup and Installation
Mounting
The T7402BC is designed for wall mount installation. Ensure the mounting location is suitable for indoor use and provides adequate space for wiring and access.
Wiring
Before beginning any wiring, ensure that power is turned OFF at the main electrical panel. The unit supports input ranges of 120 VAC or 208-277 VAC. The terminal block is clearly labeled for Clock, Line 1, Load 1, Line 2, Load 2, Line 3, Load 3, Line 4, and Load 4 connections. Do not remove the insulator until wiring is complete. Lift and swing the insulator to access terminals, then replace it after wiring.
Caution: Do not connect aluminum wires to switch terminals.
Operating Instructions
Setting Current Day and Time
- Gently turn the dial clockwise until the current day and time align with the 'TIME' indicator arrow. The dial is marked with days of the week (Sunday through Saturday) and 24-hour time (AM/PM).
- Ensure the dial is not forced, as this may damage the mechanism.
Programming ON/OFF Times
The time switch uses 'ON' (silver) and 'OFF' (golden) trippers to set the desired operating schedule. The unit includes 7 'ON' and 7 'OFF' trippers.
- To set an 'ON' time, locate a silver tripper. Place it on the dial at the desired 'ON' time, ensuring it is securely seated in the groove.
- To set an 'OFF' time, locate a golden tripper. Place it on the dial at the desired 'OFF' time, ensuring it is securely seated in the groove.
- Each tripper represents a minimum of 3.5 hours of ON or OFF time. Multiple trippers can be used for more complex schedules.
Manual Override
The time switch features a manual override lever located near the terminal block. This lever allows for temporary manual control of the connected loads, overriding the programmed schedule.
- To manually turn the loads ON, slide the lever to the 'ON' position.
- To manually turn the loads OFF, slide the lever to the 'OFF' position.
- To return to automatic operation, slide the lever to the 'AUTO' position (typically indicated by the center position or by aligning with the 'ON' or 'OFF' arrow depending on the current state).
Maintenance
The Intermatic T7402BC is designed for reliable, long-term operation with minimal maintenance. Periodically inspect the unit for any signs of damage or loose connections. Ensure the enclosure remains closed to protect internal components.
Carryover Feature
This model includes a carryover feature that automatically rewinds the clock mechanism when power resumes after an outage. For every two hours of power outage, the unit provides one hour of rewinding time, ensuring the time switch remains accurate even after prolonged power interruptions.
Troubleshooting
- Device not operating: Check the main power supply and ensure the circuit breaker is ON. Verify all wiring connections are secure and correct according to the wiring diagram.
- Loads not switching at programmed times: Ensure the 'ON' and 'OFF' trippers are correctly placed and securely fastened on the dial. Confirm the current day and time are accurately set on the dial. Check the manual override lever is in the 'AUTO' position.
- Inaccurate timekeeping: If the time switch consistently loses or gains time, ensure the power supply is stable. The carryover mechanism should compensate for power outages; if not, inspect for mechanical obstruction.
