SEIKO MECHANICAL SARB065 Men's Automatic Watch Instruction Manual

Model: SARB065

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the SEIKO MECHANICAL SARB065 automatic watch. This timepiece combines classic design with reliable mechanical movement, offering precision and elegance. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, maintenance, and care of your watch to ensure its longevity and performance.

The SARB065 features a high-quality Seiko 6R15 automatic movement, a durable stainless steel case, a distinctive guilloche dial, and a comfortable patent leather strap with an automatic folding clasp. It is designed for daily wear and offers practical functions such as date display.

Setup

1. Unpacking and Initial Winding

Upon receiving your watch, carefully remove it from its original packaging. As an automatic watch, it requires an initial power reserve to start functioning reliably. To manually wind the watch:

  1. Ensure the crown is in the normal position (pushed in completely).
  2. Rotate the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will build up a sufficient power reserve to start the movement.

2. Setting the Time

To set the correct time:

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click. The second hand will stop, allowing for precise time setting.
  2. Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time. When setting the time, ensure the AM/PM is correctly accounted for, especially when setting the date.
  3. Push the crown back in to the normal position. The second hand will resume movement.

3. Setting the Date

To set the correct date:

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click.
  2. Rotate the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this is when the date change mechanism is engaged and could cause damage.
  3. Push the crown back in to the normal position.

4. Wearing the Watch

The watch comes with a patent leather strap and an automatic folding clasp for secure and comfortable wear.

  2. Adjust the strap length to fit your wrist comfortably, ensuring it is not too tight or too loose.
  3. Close the folding clasp until it clicks securely.

Operating the Watch

Your SEIKO SARB065 is an automatic mechanical watch, meaning it is powered by the motion of your wrist. It does not require a battery.

Automatic Winding Mechanism

The watch contains an oscillating weight that rotates with your arm's movement, winding the mainspring and storing energy. When fully wound, the watch has a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it may stop. Simply manually wind it as described in the Setup section, or wear it for a few hours to restart the movement.

Accuracy

Mechanical watches, by nature, do not offer the same level of accuracy as quartz watches. The accuracy of your watch can vary depending on usage conditions, temperature, and how it is stored when not worn. Regular wear and proper care contribute to consistent performance.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch:

  • Case and Crystal: Wipe the stainless steel case and Hardlex crystal with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry one. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Leather Strap: The patent leather strap should be kept dry. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct sunlight, and extreme temperatures, which can cause the leather to crack or fade.

Water Resistance

The SEIKO SARB065 has a water resistance rating of 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes, rain, and brief immersion in water. However, it is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Always ensure the crown is pushed in completely to maintain water resistance.

Periodic Servicing

Like all mechanical watches, your SEIKO SARB065 requires periodic servicing to ensure optimal performance and longevity. It is recommended to have the watch inspected and serviced by an authorized SEIKO service center every 3 to 5 years.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your watch, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Watch Not Running: If the watch has stopped, try manually winding it by rotating the crown clockwise 30-40 times. If it still does not start, ensure it has been worn for a sufficient period to build up power reserve.
  • Incorrect Time/Date: Refer to the "Setting the Time" and "Setting the Date" sections to correctly adjust the watch. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in after adjustment.
  • Condensation Inside Crystal: If you notice condensation inside the watch crystal, this indicates a potential breach in water resistance. Stop using the watch immediately and have it inspected by an authorized service center to prevent further damage to the movement.

For issues not covered here, please contact a SEIKO authorized service center.
