1. Introduction and Overview
Thank you for choosing Sunco T8 LED 4-Foot Tube Light Bulbs. These 18W, 5000K Daylight, Single Ended Power (Type B) bulbs are designed as a direct replacement for traditional fluorescent tubes, offering superior brightness and energy efficiency. Each bulb provides 2200 lumens of consistent, flicker-free illumination, making them ideal for various indoor applications such as garages, workshops, and commercial spaces.
These LED tubes are engineered for a ballast bypass installation, which eliminates the need for an existing ballast, thereby reducing maintenance and extending the fixture's lifespan. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and operation to ensure safe and proper use.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: Prior to installing Type B LED tubes, all existing ballasts must be removed, and the fixture rewired accordingly. Failure to do so may damage the lighting tube and create a serious fire hazard. Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician or a knowledgeable individual with proper safety precautions.
- Always turn off power at the circuit breaker before beginning any electrical work.
- Ensure the fixture is properly grounded.
- Do not use these LED tubes with a dimmer switch unless explicitly stated as dimmable. These are non-dimmable bulbs.
- Inspect the tubes for any damage before installation. Do not install damaged tubes.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses and gloves.

4.1 Tools Required (Not Included)
- Screwdriver
- Wire strippers
- Wire nuts
- Voltage tester
- Safety glasses and gloves
4.2 Installation Steps
- Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the fixture and turn off the power. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
- Remove Existing Fluorescent Tubes: Carefully remove the old fluorescent tubes from the fixture.
- Remove Ballast: Open the fixture cover. Disconnect all wires leading to and from the ballast. Remove the ballast from the fixture.
- Rewire the Fixture (Single Ended Power):
- Identify the live (L) and neutral (N) wires from the main power supply.
- Connect the live (L) wire to one end of the tombstone (socket) on one side of the fixture.
- Connect the neutral (N) wire to the other end of the tombstone (socket) on the same side of the fixture.
- The tombstones on the opposite side of the fixture will not be wired.
- Ensure all connections are secure with wire nuts and insulated.
Note: Single-ended installation requires non-shunted tombstones. If your fixture has shunted tombstones, they must be replaced with non-shunted ones (tombstones not included).
- Install LED Tubes: Insert the Sunco T8 LED tubes into the rewired tombstones, ensuring the 'input' side of the LED tube aligns with the wired end of the fixture.
- Restore Power: Close the fixture cover and turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.
