3. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the paper trimmer from its packaging.
  2. Placement: Place the trimmer on a stable, flat surface. The non-slip feet will help secure it during use.
  3. Unlock Rail: If the cutting rail is locked, slide the safety lock mechanism to the unlocked position to allow the blade carriage to move freely.
  4. Extend Arm (Optional): For larger paper sizes, gently pull out the swing-out arm until it clicks into place, extending your measurement surface.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for accurate and clean cuts:

  1. Position Paper: Lift the cutting rail. Place your paper or material onto the cutting base, aligning the edge you wish to cut with the desired measurement on the grid.
  2. Secure Paper: Gently lower the cutting rail and use the paper clamp/smudge guard to hold the material firmly in place. Ensure the paper is flat and wrinkle-free.
  3. Align Cut: Use the SureCut wire as a visual guide to precisely align your cut. The wire indicates exactly where the blade will cut.
  4. Make the Cut: Hold the paper firmly with one hand. With the other hand, grasp the blade carriage and slide it firmly along the cutting rail from top to bottom (or bottom to top) to make the cut. Apply even pressure for a clean edge.
  5. Remove Material: Lift the cutting rail and remove your cut material.

5. Blade Replacement

Over time, the blade may become dull, resulting in less clean cuts. Replacing the blade is a simple process:

  1. Ensure Safety: Always engage the safety lock before attempting to replace the blade.
  2. Remove Old Blade: Slide the blade carriage to the middle of the cutting rail. Gently pry open the blade housing to release the dull blade. Dispose of the old blade safely.
  3. Insert New Blade: Carefully insert a new Fiskars replacement blade into the blade housing, ensuring it snaps securely into place.
  4. Test Cut: Make a test cut on a scrap piece of paper to ensure the new blade is properly installed and cutting cleanly.

6. Care and Storage

  • Cleaning: Wipe the cutting base and rail with a soft, dry cloth to remove paper dust and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the trimmer in a flat position. Engage the safety lock on the cutting rail to prevent accidental cuts. The lightweight design and built-in handle make it easy to transport and store.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Uneven or Frayed Cuts:
    • Ensure the paper is properly aligned and held firmly against the cutting rail.
    • The blade may be dull. Replace with a new Fiskars replacement blade.
    • Check for debris in the cutting channel that might obstruct the blade.
  • Blade Not Moving Smoothly:
    • Clean the cutting rail and blade carriage to remove any accumulated dust or paper fibers.
    • Ensure the safety lock is fully disengaged.
