5. Setup

5.1 Inserting the Battery

  3. Close the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely.

5.2 Inserting a Memory Card

The Rollei Flexline 202 supports SD and SDHC memory cards up to 8 GB.

  1. Open the memory card slot cover, usually located near the battery compartment.
  2. Insert the SD/SDHC card with the metal contacts facing the correct direction (refer to the diagram inside the slot). Push until it clicks into place.
  3. Close the memory card slot cover.

Note: A memory card is required to save photos and videos.

5.3 Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the battery.

  1. Ensure the battery is correctly inserted into the camera.
  2. Connect the camera to a power source (e.g., computer USB port or USB wall adapter) using the provided USB cable.
  3. The charging indicator light will illuminate. It will turn off or change color when charging is complete.

6. Operating the Camera

6.1 Turning On/Off

Press and hold the Power button (usually located on the top of the camera) to turn the camera on or off.

6.2 Taking Photos

  1. Turn on the camera. The LCD screen will display the live view.
  2. Frame your shot using the LCD screen.
  3. Use the zoom lever to adjust the focal length (4x optical zoom, 6x digital zoom).
  4. Press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The camera will beep and display a green focus frame when focus is achieved.
  5. Press the shutter button fully down to take the picture.

6.3 Shooting Modes

The camera offers 21 scene modes to optimize settings for various situations. Access these modes via the Mode button or dial.

  • Auto Mode: Camera automatically adjusts settings.
  • Scene Modes: Includes options like Night-Shot, Sport, Portrait, Landscape, etc. Select the mode that best suits your shooting environment.
  • Video Mode: For recording video clips.
  • Panorama Function: Allows stitching multiple photos into a wide panoramic image.

6.4 Special Features

  • Face Detection: Automatically detects and focuses on faces in the frame.
  • Anti-Shake Function (Digital Image Stabilizer): Reduces blur caused by camera shake.
  • Continuous Shooting: Takes multiple photos in quick succession.

6.5 Playback Mode

To view your photos and videos:

  1. Press the Playback button.
  2. Use the directional pad to navigate through your images and videos.
  3. Press the SET button to view video clips.
  4. To delete a file, select it and press the Delete button. Confirm deletion when prompted.

6.6 Connecting to a Computer

You can transfer photos and videos to your computer using the supplied USB cable.

  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Connect one end of the USB cable to the camera's USB port and the other end to your computer's USB port.
  3. Turn on the camera. It should be recognized as a removable disk or mass storage device by your computer.
  4. You can then copy files from the camera's memory card to your computer.

The included "Zoner Photo-Studio 9 Express" and "Zoner PanoramaMaker" software can be used for advanced image management and editing.

7. Maintenance

Proper care will extend the life of your camera.

  • Cleaning the Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for camera lenses. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  • Cleaning the LCD Screen: Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid pressing too hard.
