4. Setup

4.1. Speaker Placement

For optimal sound coverage, place the Atrium 8 speaker in an area that allows for broad sound dispersion. Consider mounting under eaves or overhangs to provide some protection from direct elements, although the speaker is all-weather certified. Ensure the speaker is placed no more than eight feet apart from each other if using a stereo pair, and slightly higher than ear level for the best listening experience.

4.2. Mounting the Speaker

The Atrium 8 features a Speed-Lock Mounting System for easy and secure installation. The bracket allows for vertical or horizontal mounting and offers anti-slip, one-handed installation.

  1. Position the mounting bracket on the desired surface (wall or ceiling) and mark the screw holes.
  2. Drill pilot holes if necessary and secure the bracket using appropriate screws (not included) suitable for your mounting surface.
  3. Attach the speaker to the bracket using the large plastic knobs supplied. Point the speaker towards the listening area.
  4. Once the direction is determined, tighten the bracket knobs securely to prevent movement and ensure longevity against weather elements.

4.3. Wiring the Speaker

The Atrium 8 features a single/dual input switch and standard speaker terminals. Ensure your amplifier or receiver is turned off before making connections.

  1. Single/Dual Input Switch: Locate the switch on the back of the speaker.
    • For use as a single high-performance stereo loudspeaker, set the switch to the appropriate position (refer to the speaker's markings).
    • For use as a Left/Right speaker in a high-performance stereo pair, set the switch to the appropriate position.
  2. Speaker Terminals: Connect the positive (+) terminal of your amplifier to the red terminal on the speaker, and the negative (-) terminal of your amplifier to the black terminal on the speaker. Ensure a tight connection to prevent signal loss.
  3. Use 16-gauge weatherproof wire for runs up to 50 feet to maintain good contact and prevent signal degradation.
