3. Operating the Mixer
3.1 Channel Controls
Each mono and stereo channel features a set of controls to shape your sound:
- GAIN: Adjusts the input sensitivity for microphones or line-level signals.
- COMP (Mono Channels): One-knob compressor for dynamic control. Turn clockwise to increase compression.
- EQ (Equalizer): 3-band EQ (HIGH, MID, LOW) to adjust the tone of each channel. The MID band on mono channels is sweepable for precise frequency control.
- AUX 1/2: Sends signal to external effects processors or monitor mixes. AUX 1 is pre-fader, AUX 2 is post-fader.
- FX: Sends signal to the internal multi-FX processor.
- PAN/BAL: Positions the channel's signal within the stereo field (PAN for mono, BAL for stereo).
- MUTE: Silences the channel.
- SOLO: Isolates the channel for monitoring through headphones or control room outputs.
- Channel Fader: Controls the output level of the individual channel.

3.2 Multi-FX Processor
The built-in 24-bit multi-FX processor offers 16 editable presets including reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, and more. Use the PROGRAM knob to select effects and the PARAMETER knob to adjust specific effect parameters. The FX TO MAIN fader controls the overall level of the effects sent to the main mix.
3.3 USB Audio Interface
The integrated USB interface allows for direct recording of the main stereo mix to your computer and playback of audio from your computer through the mixer. Ensure appropriate drivers are installed on your operating system if required (check Behringer's website for driver information).
3.4 Monitoring
Use the CONTROL ROOM/PHONES knob to adjust the listening level for your control room monitors and headphones. The SOURCE switch allows you to select what you hear: MAIN mix, 2-TR/USB playback, or SOLOed channels.
4. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Behringer Xenyx X1622USB mixer, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the mixer. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth with mild soap can be used, but ensure no liquid enters the unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Dust Protection: When not in use, cover the mixer to protect it from dust and debris, which can affect faders and knobs.
- Storage: Store the mixer in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
- Cable Management: Ensure cables are neatly organized and not under strain to prevent damage to connectors and ports.
