Setup

Battery Installation

The Minute Math Electronic Flash Card requires 3 AAA batteries (not included). To install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the unit.
  2. Using a small Phillips head screwdriver, open the battery compartment.
  3. Insert 3 fresh AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Securely close the battery compartment with the screw.

Caution: Batteries should be replaced by an adult. Replace batteries when sounds play slowly or when the game works erratically.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off

Press the orange power button located at the bottom center of the unit to turn the device on or off.

Selecting Operations

The device features two main modes for practicing math facts:

  • Addition/Subtraction: Use the slider switch to select this mode.
  • Multiplication/Division: Use the slider switch to select this mode.

Selecting Difficulty Levels

There are three adjustable skill levels to accommodate different learning stages:

  1. Press the 'Level' button (labeled 1, 2, 3) to cycle through the difficulty settings.
  2. The selected level will be displayed on the top screen.

Timed and Untimed Modes

The device offers both timed and untimed practice options:

  • 60-second Timed Mode: Engage in quick challenges to improve speed and accuracy.
  • Low-pressure, Untimed Mode: Practice without time constraints by disabling the timer.

Answering Questions

Problems are presented on the screens. Use the number buttons (0-9) to enter your answer. The device provides immediate visual and auditory feedback on whether the answer is correct or incorrect.

Volume Control and Silent Mode

The unit includes volume control for adaptable use in various environments. To activate silent mode, hold down the 'Level' button for approximately 1/2 way until the screen blinks quickly, indicating the sound is off. This allows for quiet practice in settings like classrooms, car rides, or waiting rooms.
