Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the clock.
- Insert one fresh AA battery, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the markings in the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Initial Signal Reception
After battery installation, the clock will begin searching for the atomic time signal. This process can take several minutes to several hours, depending on your location and environmental conditions.
- For best reception, place the clock near a window, ideally facing towards Fort Collins, Colorado, where the WWVB atomic clock signal originates.
- Avoid placing the clock near sources of electromagnetic interference, such as televisions, computers, or large metal objects.
- Once the signal is received, the clock hands will automatically adjust to the correct time, including the correct time zone and Daylight Saving Time setting for the continental United States.
Operating Instructions
Automatic Time Synchronization
The Lorell 60990 Wall Clock is designed to be maintenance-free regarding time setting. It continuously monitors and adjusts its time based on the atomic clock signal, ensuring it always displays the precise time.
Daylight Saving Time (DST) Adjustment
The clock automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time changes. No manual intervention is required for areas within the continental United States that observe DST.
Maintenance
Battery Replacement
When the clock hands stop moving or the time becomes inaccurate, it is an indication that the battery needs to be replaced. Follow the battery installation steps in the Setup section to replace the AA battery.
Cleaning
To clean the clock, gently wipe the ABS plastic cover and frame with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish.
Troubleshooting
- Clock not setting or displaying incorrect time:
Ensure the battery is fresh and correctly installed. Relocate the clock to a different position, preferably near a window and away from electronic devices or large metal structures that might interfere with the radio signal. Allow sufficient time (up to 24 hours) for the clock to receive and process the signal. - Clock hands are stuck or not moving:
Check the battery. If the battery is low or depleted, replace it with a new AA battery. If the issue persists after battery replacement, contact customer support.
