Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective operation of your Sony DSC-W350 14.1MP Digital Camera. Please read this manual thoroughly before using your camera and retain it for future reference.

Initial Setup
1. Charging the Battery
- Insert the supplied rechargeable battery into the camera.
- Connect the camera to the AC power adapter using the USB cable.
- Plug the AC power adapter into a wall outlet. The charge lamp will illuminate.
- Charging is complete when the charge lamp turns off (approximately 8 hours for a full charge).
2. Inserting a Memory Card
- Open the battery/memory card cover on the bottom of the camera.
- Insert a Memory Stick Duo/PRO Duo/PRO-HG Duo card into the slot with the notched corner facing the correct direction, until it clicks into place.
- Close the cover securely.
3. Setting Date and Time
Upon first power-on or after the battery has been removed for an extended period, you will be prompted to set the date and time. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure these settings.
Operating the Camera
Powering On/Off
Press the POWER button to turn the camera on or off. The lens will extend when powered on.
Taking Photos
- Turn on the camera.
- Frame your shot using the 2.7-inch LCD display.
- Press the Shutter button halfway down to focus. The focus indicator will turn green when focus is achieved.
- Press the Shutter button all the way down to capture the image.
Recording Videos (HD Movie Mode)
- Set the camera to HD Movie Mode (refer to the mode selection section).
- Press the Movie button to start recording.
- Press the Movie button again to stop recording.
Zoom Function
Use the W (Wide) / T (Telephoto) lever around the shutter button to adjust the 4x optical zoom. Move the lever towards T to zoom in on distant subjects, and towards W to zoom out and capture a wider area.
Mode Selection
The camera offers various shooting modes to suit different situations. Use the MODE button or dial (if present) to cycle through options such as:
- Intelligent Auto Mode: Automatically detects scene type and optimizes settings.
- Program Auto Mode: Allows manual adjustment of some settings while the camera sets exposure.
- Sweep Panorama Mode: Capture wide panoramic images by sweeping the camera.
- Scene Selection Modes: Pre-set modes for specific scenes (e.g., Portrait, Landscape, Night Scene).
- HD Movie Mode: For recording high-definition video.

Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization
This feature uses a built-in gyro sensor to detect and counteract camera shake, helping to prevent blur in photos and videos, especially in low light or when using zoom.
Sweep Panorama Mode
Capture panoramic scenes by simply pressing the shutter and sweeping the camera across the landscape. The camera automatically stitches multiple images into a single, wide panoramic photo.
HD MP4 Movie Mode (720p)
Record high-definition videos in 720p resolution using the MP4 format, which is suitable for easy transfer and sharing online.
Intelligent Auto (iAuto) Mode
The camera automatically analyzes the scene and selects the optimal settings for exposure, focus, and white balance, simplifying photography for various conditions.
Face Detection and Smile Shutter
Face Detection optimizes focus, exposure, and white balance for up to eight faces. Smile Shutter automatically captures a photo when a smile is detected.
Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO)
DRO adjusts exposure and contrast to reveal details in both bright highlights and dark shadows, resulting in more balanced images.
Media Management
Viewing Photos and Videos
Press the Playback button to enter playback mode. Use the directional buttons to navigate through your captured images and videos. Press the DISP button to change the information displayed on the screen.
Transferring to a Computer
- Connect the camera to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
- Turn on the camera.
- The computer should recognize the camera as a removable disk. You can then drag and drop files from the camera's memory card to your computer.
- Alternatively, use the included Sony PMB (Picture Motion Browser) software for more advanced management and editing options.
Maintenance
- Keep the camera clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.
- Avoid exposing the camera to extreme temperatures, humidity, or dust.
- Clean the lens gently with a lens cleaning cloth or brush. Do not use abrasive materials.
- Store the camera in a dry, cool place when not in use.
Troubleshooting
Camera does not turn on:
- Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted.
- Check if the battery contacts are clean.
Images are blurry:
- Ensure the lens is clean.
- Check if Optical SteadyShot is enabled.
- Hold the camera steady when shooting.
- Verify that the camera has focused correctly before fully pressing the shutter button.
Memory card error:
- Ensure the memory card is inserted correctly.
- Try formatting the memory card (note: this will erase all data).
- Test with a different compatible memory card.
