What's in the Box

Note: Memory Stick Duo/PRO Duo/PRO-HG Duo cards are sold separately and are required for storing images and videos.

Initial Setup

1. Charging the Battery

  1. Insert the supplied rechargeable battery into the camera.
  2. Connect the camera to the AC power adapter using the USB cable.
  3. Plug the AC power adapter into a wall outlet. The charge lamp will illuminate.
  4. Charging is complete when the charge lamp turns off (approximately 8 hours for a full charge).

2. Inserting a Memory Card

  1. Open the battery/memory card cover on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Insert a Memory Stick Duo/PRO Duo/PRO-HG Duo card into the slot with the notched corner facing the correct direction, until it clicks into place.
  3. Close the cover securely.

3. Setting Date and Time

Upon first power-on or after the battery has been removed for an extended period, you will be prompted to set the date and time. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure these settings.

Operating the Camera

Powering On/Off

Press the POWER button to turn the camera on or off. The lens will extend when powered on.

Taking Photos

  1. Turn on the camera.
  2. Frame your shot using the 2.7-inch LCD display.
  3. Press the Shutter button halfway down to focus. The focus indicator will turn green when focus is achieved.
  4. Press the Shutter button all the way down to capture the image.

Recording Videos (HD Movie Mode)

  1. Set the camera to HD Movie Mode (refer to the mode selection section).
  2. Press the Movie button to start recording.
  3. Press the Movie button again to stop recording.

Zoom Function

Use the W (Wide) / T (Telephoto) lever around the shutter button to adjust the 4x optical zoom. Move the lever towards T to zoom in on distant subjects, and towards W to zoom out and capture a wider area.

Face Detection optimizes focus, exposure, and white balance for up to eight faces. Smile Shutter automatically captures a photo when a smile is detected.

Media Management

Viewing Photos and Videos

Press the Playback button to enter playback mode. Use the directional buttons to navigate through your captured images and videos. Press the DISP button to change the information displayed on the screen.

Transferring to a Computer

  1. Connect the camera to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
  2. Turn on the camera.
  3. The computer should recognize the camera as a removable disk. You can then drag and drop files from the camera's memory card to your computer.
