1. Introduction

The Logitech Wireless Mouse M505 is designed for enhanced productivity and comfort. Featuring advanced laser tracking and a long battery life, it provides precise cursor control and reliable wireless connectivity. The included Logitech Unifying receiver offers convenience by allowing connection of multiple compatible devices to a single, tiny USB receiver.

2. Setup

2.1. Installing Batteries

The Logitech Wireless Mouse M505 comes with two AA batteries pre-installed. If you need to replace them:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the underside of the mouse.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

An On/Off switch is located on the underside of the mouse to conserve power when not in use. A battery-indicator light on the top of the mouse will alert you when battery levels are low.

2.2. Connecting the Logitech Unifying Receiver

The Logitech Unifying receiver provides the wireless connection between your mouse and computer.

  1. Locate the tiny Logitech Unifying receiver. It may be stored inside the mouse's battery compartment for transport.
  2. Plug the Unifying receiver into an available USB port on your computer.

Your computer should automatically detect the mouse. For enhanced features or to connect additional compatible devices, you may download the Logitech Unifying software from www.logitech.com.

3. Operating the Mouse

3.1. Basic Functions

  • Left-Click Button: Used for selecting items, opening files, and activating functions.
  • Right-Click Button: Used for opening context menus and accessing additional options.
  • Scroll Wheel: Scroll up or down through documents and web pages. The scroll wheel also functions as a middle-click button.

3.2. Laser Tracking

The M505 mouse utilizes laser tracking technology for precise and smooth cursor movement. This technology allows the mouse to perform reliably on a wider range of surfaces compared to standard optical mice.

3.3. Advanced 2.4 GHz Wireless Connectivity

The mouse connects to your computer using Logitech's advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology, which provides a strong, reliable connection with virtually no delays or dropouts, similar to a wired connection.

3.4. Logitech Unifying Technology

The Unifying receiver allows you to connect up to six compatible Logitech wireless devices (such as keyboards or number pads) to your computer using a single receiver. This frees up USB ports and simplifies your workspace. To add more devices, download and use the Logitech Unifying software from the official Logitech website.

4. Maintenance

4.1. Battery Replacement

The M505 mouse is designed for long battery life (up to 15 months). When the battery indicator light on the mouse turns red or begins to flash, it's time to replace the batteries. Refer to Section 2.1 for battery installation instructions.

4.2. Cleaning the Mouse

To maintain optimal performance and appearance, clean your mouse periodically:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or aerosol sprays directly on the mouse.
  • Do not allow moisture to enter any openings.

4.3. Storing the Unifying Receiver

When traveling or not using the mouse, the tiny Unifying receiver can be conveniently stored inside the mouse's battery compartment to prevent loss.

5. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Move the mouse closer to the Unifying receiver to reduce wireless interference.
  • Check for other wireless devices that might be causing interference.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions within the software to pair new devices.
