2. Important Safety Information

WARNING: To avoid fire, shock, or death, turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse box and test that the power is off before wiring. This device should be installed in accordance with national and local electrical codes. If you are unsure about any part of these instructions, consult a qualified electrician.

Always ensure safety comes first during installation. Standards are designed for a reason. When using Quickwire™ terminations, it is crucial to use only 14-gauge solid copper wire, as specified by UL standards. Using any other gauge or type of wire in Quickwire™ terminals is prohibited and can pose a safety risk.

6. Operating Instructions

Once properly installed and power is restored, the Leviton Decora Rocker Switch operates as a standard ON/OFF switch. Press the top of the rocker to turn the connected load ON, and press the bottom of the rocker to turn the connected load OFF.

7. Maintenance

The Leviton Decora Rocker Switch requires minimal maintenance. To clean, simply wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish. Ensure power is off before cleaning if the switch is heavily soiled or requires more than a light wipe.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Switch Not Responding:
    • Check the circuit breaker to ensure power is ON to the switch.
    • Verify all wire connections are secure and correctly terminated. Loose connections can prevent operation.
    • Ensure the correct wire gauge (14 AWG solid copper) was used for Quickwire™ terminals, or proper screw terminal connections for other wire types.
  • Flickering Lights:
    • This is less common with a simple ON/OFF switch but could indicate a loose connection. Re-check wiring.
    • Ensure the connected load (light fixture, appliance) is compatible with the switch's rating.

If issues persist after checking these points, it is recommended to consult a qualified electrician for further diagnosis and repair.
