1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, programming, and operation of your Intermatic ET1725C Electronic 7-Day SPST Timer. This device is designed to automate the control of electrical loads with precise, up-to-the-minute scheduling. It features battery backup for power loss, up to 14 ON/OFF set points per circuit, and automatic daylight saving time corrections.

The ET1725C is an upgrade from basic mechanical time switches, offering enhanced functionality and ease of use. Its contacts can be configured as two independently operated SPST, one simultaneously operated DPST, or independently pulsed SPST for contactor and bell ringing applications. It supports multi-volt operation from 120-277 VAC, 50/60 Hz.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Risk of electrical shock. More than one disconnect switch may be required to de-energize the equipment before servicing. Always disconnect power at the circuit breaker or fuse box before installing or servicing this timer.

Use 10-18 gauge copper conductors rated for at least 75°C (167°F) for all connections.

DO NOT REMOVE THIS INSULATOR. This insulator is critical for safe operation.

This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm (Proposition 65 warning).

3. Installation

3.1 Mounting

The Intermatic ET1725C timer is designed for enclosure mounting. Ensure the mounting location is suitable for electrical equipment and provides adequate ventilation.

3.2 Wiring

Before wiring, ensure all power to the circuit is disconnected at the main service panel. Refer to the wiring diagrams below for proper connection based on your specific application. The ET1725C supports various configurations including SPST and DPST.

4. Setup & Programming

The ET1725C allows for flexible programming with up to 14 ON/OFF set points per circuit. The timer automatically adjusts for daylight saving time.

4.1 Initial Setup

  1. Power On: After installation and power connection, the display should illuminate.
  2. Set Current Time:
    • Press the MODE button until "SET TIME" appears.
    • Use the UP and DOWN arrows to adjust the hour and minute.
    • Press ENTER NEXT to confirm.
  3. Set Current Day:
    • Press the DAY button to cycle through the days of the week until the current day is displayed.
  4. Daylight Saving Time (DST): The timer automatically corrects for DST. Ensure the correct year is set if prompted during initial setup.

4.2 Programming ON/OFF Events

The timer allows for up to 14 ON/OFF set points per circuit. Each set point can be assigned to specific days of the week.

  1. Press the MODE button until "PROGRAM" appears.
  2. The display will show "ON 1". Use the UP and DOWN arrows to set the desired ON time for the first event.
  3. Press ENTER NEXT.
  4. The display will show "OFF 1". Use the UP and DOWN arrows to set the desired OFF time for the first event.
  5. Press ENTER NEXT.
  6. The display will show the days of the week. Use the DAY button to select the days for this program. You can select individual days, weekdays, weekends, or all days.
  7. Press ENTER NEXT to save the program.
  8. Repeat steps 2-7 for additional ON/OFF events (ON 2, OFF 2, etc.).
  9. To exit programming mode, press the MODE button until the current time is displayed.

4.3 Manual Override

The timer can be manually overridden using the ON/OFF buttons. Pressing these buttons will toggle the load's state (ON or OFF) without affecting the programmed schedule. The timer will revert to the schedule at the next programmed event.

5. Operation

Once programmed, the Intermatic ET1725C will operate automatically according to your set schedule. The LCD display shows the current time, day, and the status of Load 1 and Load 2 (ON/OFF).

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

The ET1725C uses a replaceable battery for backup power. If the display becomes dim or the timer loses settings during a power outage, the battery may need replacement.

  1. WARNING: Disconnect all power to the timer at the circuit breaker before opening the unit.
  2. Open the timer enclosure.
  3. Locate the battery compartment.
  4. Carefully remove the old battery and replace it with a new, equivalent battery (e.g., standard AAA non-rechargeable alkaline battery).
  5. Close the battery compartment and the timer enclosure.
  6. Restore power and verify the timer's functionality.

6.2 Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the timer with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no moisture enters the unit.
