Setup
1. Package Contents
Verify that your package contains the following items:

2. Physical Connection
Follow these steps to connect your modem router:
- Power Off: Ensure your computer and any existing modem are powered off.
- DSL Line Connection: Connect one end of the phone cable (RJ-11) to the DSL port on the back of the DSL-2740B. Connect the other end to your ADSL wall jack or the 'MODEM' port on an ADSL splitter/filter.
- Ethernet Connection: Connect one end of the Ethernet cable (RJ-45) to any of the LAN ports (1-4) on the back of the DSL-2740B. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port on your computer.

3. Initial Configuration (Web Interface)
To access the modem router's web-based configuration utility:
- Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
- In the address bar, type http://192.168.1.1 and press Enter.
- A login prompt will appear. Enter the default username and password (usually admin for both, or refer to the label on the device).
- Follow the on-screen setup wizard to configure your DSL connection settings (VPI/VCI, encapsulation type, username, password provided by your ISP) and wireless network settings (SSID, security key).

1. Connecting Devices
- Wired Devices: Connect Ethernet-enabled devices (e.g., desktop computers, gaming consoles) to any of the four LAN ports on the back of the router using Ethernet cables.
- Wireless Devices:
- On your wireless device (laptop, smartphone, tablet), search for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Select the SSID (network name) you configured during the initial setup.
- Enter the wireless password (security key) when prompted.
- The device should now be connected to your wireless network.
2. Wireless Network Configuration
You can modify your wireless network settings through the web interface:
- SSID (Network Name): Change the default network name to a unique identifier.

- Pre-Shared Key (Password): Set a strong, unique password for your wireless network.

1. Firmware Updates

2. Resetting the Device
If you encounter persistent issues or forget your login credentials, you may need to reset the device to factory default settings. Locate the reset button (usually a small pinhole) on the back of the router. With the device powered on, use a paperclip to press and hold the reset button for approximately 10 seconds until the LEDs flash. The device will restart with factory default settings.
3. Cleaning

Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions:
- No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the device and a working power outlet. Check the Power LED.
- No DSL Connection: Verify the phone cable is correctly connected to the DSL port and the wall jack/splitter. Ensure your ISP service is active. The DSL LED should be solid green.
- No Internet Access: Check if the Internet LED is illuminated. If not, verify your ISP settings (username, password, VPI/VCI) in the web interface. Contact your ISP if the issue persists.
- No Wireless Connection: Ensure the Wireless LED is illuminated. Check your device's Wi-Fi settings and ensure you are connecting to the correct SSID with the correct password.
- Slow Performance:
- Try restarting the modem router by unplugging it for 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
- Ensure the router is placed in a central location, away from obstructions and interference sources (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
- Check for firmware updates.
