Instruction Manual

Introduction

The Rain Bird XB106 Multi-Outlet Xeri-Bug Emitter is designed for efficient and precise water distribution in drip irrigation systems. This device features a single 1/4" barb inlet and six 1/4" barb outlets, allowing a total flow rate of 1.0 Gallon Per Hour (GPH) to be divided among multiple plants or areas. Its durable, UV-resistant construction and self-flushing action contribute to reliable, long-term performance.

Setup and Installation

  1. System Compatibility: Ensure your irrigation system operates within the recommended pressure range of 15 to 50 PSI (1.0 to 3.5 Bar).
  2. Connection to Supply Line: Connect the single 1/4" barb inlet of the XB106 emitter to your 1/4" drip irrigation supply tubing. Push the tubing firmly onto the barb until it is securely seated.
  3. Connecting Outlet Tubing: Attach 1/4" drip irrigation tubing to each of the six outlet barbs. These lines will direct water to individual plants or specific areas.
  4. Placement: For optimal and even water distribution, position the XB106 emitter and its connected outlet lines at approximately the same elevation. Significant differences in elevation can affect flow uniformity among the outlets.
  5. Initial Flush: Before connecting the XB106, it is recommended to flush your main drip line to remove any debris that could clog the emitter.

Operating Instructions

The Rain Bird XB106 emitter is designed for integration into an automatic drip irrigation system. Once installed, it will distribute water when the system is active.

Maintenance

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Uneven water distribution from outlets
  • Significant elevation differences between outlets.
  • Insufficient or excessive system pressure.
  • Partial blockage in an outlet line.
  • Ensure all outlets and the emitter are at a similar elevation.
  • Verify system pressure is within 15-50 PSI. Adjust pressure regulator if necessary.
  • Inspect and clear any blockages in the 1/4" outlet tubing.
No water flow from any outlet
  • Main supply line not active.
  • Complete blockage of the emitter inlet.
  • System pressure too low.
  • Outlets are sealed (manufacturing defect).
  • Check that the irrigation system is turned on and water is flowing to the main drip line.
  • Disconnect the emitter and check for debris blocking the inlet. Flush the main line.
  • Verify system pressure is within the recommended range.
  • Inspect the outlets. If they appear sealed, contact Rain Bird customer support for assistance.
Reduced flow from all outlets
  • Low system pressure.
  • Partial blockage within the emitter.
  • Check system pressure.
