Installation

  1. Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse that controls the switch you are replacing. Turn off the power completely before proceeding. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Remove Existing Switch: Carefully remove the wallplate and unscrew the existing switch from the wall box. Disconnect the wires from the old switch. Note the connections for reference.
  3. Identify Wires: The Westek TMDCD60 timer requires four wires:
    • Black Wire: Hot (Line)
    • Red Wire: Load (to the device being controlled)
    • White Wire: Neutral
    • Green Wire: Ground

Ensure your wall box contains a neutral wire. If not, this timer cannot be installed without running a new neutral wire, which should be done by a qualified electrician.

  4. Connect Wires: Using wire nuts (not included), connect the wires from the wall box to the corresponding wires on the TMDCD60 timer switch:
    • Connect the Black wire from the timer to the Hot (Line) wire from the wall box.
    • Connect the Red wire from the timer to the Load wire from the wall box (to the light/fan).
    • Connect the White wire from the timer to the Neutral wire from the wall box.
    • Connect the Green wire from the timer to the Ground wire from the wall box.
  5. Mount the Timer: Carefully fold the wires into the wall box. The timer is deeper than a standard switch, so ensure there is enough space. Secure the timer switch to the wall box using the provided screws.
  6. Install Wallplate: Attach a standard rocker wallplate (not included) over the timer switch.
  7. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker or fuse box.

Operation

The TMDCD60 timer operates with a single push-button control. Each press cycles through the available countdown settings and the HOLD function.

  1. Turning On and Setting Timer: Press the control button once to activate the timer. The timer will cycle through the following settings with each subsequent press:
    • OFF (no LED lit)
    • 10 Minutes (10 MIN LED lights up)
    • 20 Minutes (20 MIN LED lights up)
    • 30 Minutes (30 MIN LED lights up)
    • 60 Minutes (60 MIN LED lights up)
    • HOLD (HOLD LED lights up)

The connected device will remain on for the selected duration and then automatically turn off. The corresponding LED will indicate the active setting.

  2. HOLD Function: To keep the connected device on indefinitely, press and hold the control button for approximately one second until the "HOLD" LED illuminates. In HOLD mode, the device will remain on until you press the button again to turn it off or select a countdown setting.
  3. Turning Off: To turn off the connected device before the countdown finishes or while in HOLD mode, press the control button until no LEDs are lit.
