Setup and Installation
Proper setup is crucial for optimal performance of your Whynter ARC-14SH unit. The dual hose system maximizes cooling and heating efficiency by drawing in fresh outside air for the condenser and exhausting hot air separately.
Unpacking and Initial Placement
- Carefully remove the unit from its packaging. It is recommended to allow the unit to stand upright for at least 4 hours before operation if it was not transported in an upright position.
- Place the unit on a flat, stable surface. The unit is equipped with wheels for easy mobility.
Window Kit Installation
The included window kit is designed for easy installation in most standard vertical or horizontal sliding windows. The kit includes an extendable window slider, intake and exhaust hoses, and hose connectors.
- Adjust the length of the window slider to fit your window opening.
- Secure the window slider in place using the provided screws.
- Attach the hose connectors to both ends of the intake and exhaust hoses by twisting them until they are securely fastened.
- Connect one end of each hose to the corresponding ports on the back of the air conditioner unit.
- Connect the other end of each hose to the window slider kit, ensuring a tight seal to prevent air leakage.

Operating Instructions
The ARC-14SH unit features an intuitive control panel and comes with a remote control for convenient operation.
Control Panel and Remote
- The control panel on the front of the unit allows you to power on/off, select modes, adjust temperature, and set fan speed.
- The remote control provides full functionality from a distance. Ensure clear line of sight to the unit for optimal remote performance.
Operational Modes
The unit offers four distinct modes:
- Cool Mode: Provides powerful cooling for rooms up to 500 sq. ft. Set desired temperature between 61°F and 89°F.
- Heat Mode: Functions as a heat pump to warm your space.
- Dehumidify Mode: Reduces humidity in the air with a capacity of 71 pints/day. Features a patented auto-drain function that exhausts condensate in most environments.
- Fan Mode: Circulates air without cooling or heating, offering three fan speeds (low, medium, high).
Timer Function
The 24-hour programmable timer allows you to set the unit to turn on or off automatically, optimizing energy usage and convenience.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your ARC-14SH unit.
Filter Cleaning
The unit is equipped with a washable pre-filter and an activated carbon filter. Clean the pre-filter regularly (every two weeks or as needed) to maintain air quality and unit efficiency. The activated carbon filter should be replaced periodically.
- To access filters, remove the back panel of the unit.
- Wash the pre-filter with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to air dry completely before reinserting.

Condensate Drainage
The ARC-14SH features an auto-drain function that automatically exhausts most condensate. In very humid conditions, or during prolonged dehumidifier use, some water may collect in the internal tank. The unit will indicate when the tank is full and requires manual drainage.
- Locate the drain plug at the bottom rear of the unit.
- Place a shallow pan or connect a drain hose (not included) to the drain outlet.
- Remove the drain plug to allow water to flow out. Reinsert the plug once drainage is complete.
Troubleshooting
If your unit is not operating as expected, please refer to the following common issues before contacting support:
- Unit does not turn on: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet. Ensure the unit's internal water tank is not full (the unit will display a 'STOP' message if full).
- Insufficient cooling/heating: Verify that all windows and doors are closed. Check if the air filters are clean and free of obstructions. Ensure the intake and exhaust hoses are properly installed and not kinked or blocked. Confirm the room size is within the unit's capacity (up to 500 sq. ft.).
- Excessive noise: Ensure the unit is placed on a flat, stable surface. Check for any loose parts or obstructions in the air vents.
- Water leakage: Confirm the drain plug is securely closed. If using continuous drainage, ensure the drain hose is properly connected and not blocked.
