Setup

1. Attach Lanyard: Thread the thin loop end of the lanyard strap through the lanyard attachment point on the monocular. Take the opposite end of the lanyard and put it through the loop, then cinch the loop tight.
2. Adjust Eyecup: The eyecup can be twisted up or down. If you wear eyeglasses, keep the eyecup in the down position. If you do not wear eyeglasses, twist the eyecup up to the desired height for comfortable viewing.

Operating Instructions

1. Viewing: Hold the monocular up to one eye.
2. Focusing: Locate the focus wheel on the eyepiece. Slowly turn the wheel until your subject comes crisply into view. Turn clockwise for more distant objects and counter-clockwise for closer objects.

Maintenance

• Protect Lenses: Always store the Solo Monocular in its custom carry case when not in use to protect the lenses.
• Keep Lenses Clean:
  1. Remove any dust or grit from lenses before wiping. Use a can of pressurized air or a soft camel hair brush.
  2. Clear smudges, fingerprints, or eyelash oil by fogging the lenses with your own breath and wiping with the non-abrasive lens cloth included with the monocular.
  3. Avoid using facial tissue, heavy cotton, or flannel clothing on lenses, as these materials can scratch the lens surfaces.

Troubleshooting

• Blurry Image: Ensure the eyecup is correctly adjusted for your vision (up for no glasses, down for glasses). Rotate the focus wheel slowly in both directions until the image is sharp.
• Fogging: The monocular is nitrogen purged and O-ring sealed to prevent internal fogging. If external fogging occurs, wipe the lenses with a clean, dry lens cloth. If internal fogging persists, contact Vortex customer service.
• Difficulty Focusing: The focus wheel may be stiff initially due to weather seals. Continued use should ease its movement. Ensure no obstructions are present around the focus wheel.
