1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Lanzar MXA214 800-Watt 2-Channel Bridgeable MOSFET Amplifier. Please read this manual thoroughly before attempting installation or operation to ensure proper use and to prevent damage to the unit or your vehicle's audio system. Keep this manual for future reference.
2. Safety Information
Observe the following safety precautions during installation and operation:
- Professional Installation Recommended: Due to the complexity of car audio systems and electrical connections, professional installation is highly recommended.
- Power Source: Connect the amplifier only to a 12V DC negative ground electrical system.
- Wiring: Ensure all wiring is correctly routed and secured to prevent pinching, cutting, or short circuits. Use appropriate gauge wiring for power and speaker connections.
- Fuses: Always replace fuses with the same type and rating. Incorrect fuses can cause damage or fire.
- Ventilation: Mount the amplifier in a location that allows for adequate air circulation to prevent overheating. Do not cover the amplifier's heat sinks.
- Moisture: Avoid exposing the amplifier to moisture or direct water contact.
- Volume Levels: Prolonged listening at high volume levels can cause hearing damage.

5. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Consider professional installation.
5.1 Mounting Location
Choose a dry, well-ventilated location that is protected from direct sunlight and moisture. Ensure sufficient space around the amplifier for air circulation. Avoid mounting on carpet or other materials that could obstruct airflow.
5.2 Wiring Connections
Refer to the diagrams below for proper wiring. Always disconnect the vehicle's negative battery terminal before making any electrical connections.

Figure 1: Rear view of the Lanzar MXA214 amplifier showing power input (GND, REM, +12V), fuse, and speaker output terminals (LEFT+, LEFT-, RIGHT+, RIGHT-, BRIDGED).
5.2.1 Power Connections
- +12V (Power): Connect directly to the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery using an appropriate gauge power cable. Install an in-line fuse (not supplied) within 18 inches of the battery.
- GND (Ground): Connect to a clean, unpainted metal surface of the vehicle chassis. Ensure a solid electrical connection.
- REM (Remote Turn-On): Connect to the remote output of your head unit. This wire turns the amplifier on and off with your stereo.
5.2.2 Signal Input (RCA)
Connect the RCA output from your head unit to the RCA input terminals on the amplifier.

Figure 2: Front view of the Lanzar MXA214 amplifier showing RCA input, line output, and various control knobs (Level, Bass Boost, High Pass, Low Pass, Crossover Switch).
5.2.3 Speaker Connections
Connect your speakers to the speaker output terminals. The MXA214 supports both stereo and bridged mono configurations.
- Stereo Mode: Connect one speaker to the LEFT+ and LEFT- terminals, and another speaker to the RIGHT+ and RIGHT- terminals.
- Bridged Mono Mode: For a single subwoofer or higher power output, connect the speaker to the LEFT+ and RIGHT- terminals, indicated as BRIDGED. Ensure the speaker impedance is suitable for bridged operation (typically 4 ohms minimum).
6. Operating Instructions
Once all connections are securely made and verified, reconnect the vehicle's negative battery terminal. The amplifier will power on when your head unit is turned on, indicated by the green POWER LED.
6.1 LED Indicators
- POWER (Green): Illuminates when the amplifier is receiving power and operating normally.
- PROTECT (Red): Illuminates when the amplifier detects a fault (e.g., short circuit, overheating, low voltage) and enters protection mode. The amplifier will shut down to prevent damage.
7. Controls and Adjustments
The Lanzar MXA214 features several controls to fine-tune your audio system. (Refer to Figure 2 for control locations).
- LEVEL (Gain Control): Adjusts the input sensitivity of the amplifier to match the output voltage of your head unit. Start with the gain at minimum and slowly increase until desired volume is achieved without distortion.
- BASS BOOST: Provides an adjustable bass enhancement (0 to +18 dB). Use sparingly to avoid distortion.
- CROSSOVER SWITCH (FULL/HPF/LPF): Selects the operating mode for the built-in crossover network.
- FULL: Full range audio signal is passed to the speakers.
- HPF (High Pass Filter): Allows only frequencies above the set HPF frequency to pass. Useful for full-range speakers to prevent low bass distortion.
- LPF (Low Pass Filter): Allows only frequencies below the set LPF frequency to pass. Essential for subwoofers.
- HIGH PASS (HPF Frequency Control): Adjusts the cutoff frequency for the High Pass Filter (40 Hz–250 Hz).
- LOW PASS (LPF Frequency Control): Adjusts the cutoff frequency for the Low Pass Filter (40 Hz–250 Hz).
- PHASE CONTROL (0-180°): Adjusts the phase of the output signal. This can help optimize bass response, especially when using a subwoofer with other speakers.
8. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and performance of your amplifier.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the amplifier's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Connections: Routinely check all power, ground, remote, and speaker connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Ventilation: Ensure the amplifier's cooling fins are free from dust and debris to maintain proper heat dissipation.
9. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your amplifier, consult the following troubleshooting guide before seeking service.
- No Power / Amplifier Not Turning On:
- Check the in-line fuse on the +12V power cable and the fuse on the amplifier itself. Replace if blown.
- Verify all power (+12V), ground (GND), and remote (REM) connections are secure and properly connected.
- Ensure the head unit is powered on and sending a remote signal.
- No Sound Output:
- Check RCA input cables for proper connection and damage.
- Verify speaker wires are correctly connected to the amplifier and speakers, and are not shorted.
- Adjust the amplifier's LEVEL (gain) control.
- Check head unit volume and settings.
- Distorted Sound:
- Reduce the amplifier's LEVEL (gain) control.
- Check speaker impedance to ensure it is within the amplifier's supported range.
- Ensure the BASS BOOST is not set too high, causing clipping.
- Verify proper crossover settings (HPF/LPF) for your speakers/subwoofers.
- Amplifier Goes into Protection Mode (Red PROTECT LED):
- Overheating: Ensure adequate ventilation. Allow the amplifier to cool down.
- Short Circuit: Check speaker wiring for any shorts (e.g., bare wires touching each other or the vehicle chassis).
- Low/High Voltage: Verify the vehicle's battery voltage is stable (typically 12V-14.4V).
