Brand: LUX | Model: PSPLV512

1. Introduction and Overview

The Lux Pro PSPLV512 is a programmable 5-2 day line voltage thermostat designed for efficient control of heating systems such as baseboard, cable, and ceiling heat. This thermostat supports both 120VAC and 240VAC applications, including single-pole and double-pole wiring configurations. It features separate programming for weekdays and weekends, with four distinct settings per day, allowing for customized temperature schedules to optimize energy savings and comfort.

Key features include on-screen programming, temporary override, and a vacation hold function. The intuitive "Speed Dial" interface simplifies the programming process.

2. Setup and Installation

Important: Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or HVAC professional. Ensure power to the heating system is turned off at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.

2.1 Wiring

The PSPLV512 is designed for line voltage systems (120VAC or 240VAC) and can be used with single-pole or double-pole configurations. Refer to the wiring diagram provided in the packaging for specific connections. Typically, line voltage thermostats connect directly to the heating load and the main power supply.

  • Identify the incoming power wires and the wires leading to your heating unit.
  • Connect the wires according to the diagram, ensuring all connections are secure and insulated.
  • For double-pole applications, both line wires will be switched. For single-pole, only one line wire is switched.

2.2 Mounting

Mount the thermostat vertically on a standard electrical box. Ensure it is placed away from direct sunlight, drafts, or heat sources that could affect temperature readings.

  1. Carefully remove the front cover of the thermostat.
  2. Secure the thermostat base to the electrical box using the provided screws.
  3. Once wiring is complete and the base is mounted, reattach the front cover.

2.3 Battery Installation

The thermostat requires batteries for operation and program retention. Batteries are typically included.

  • Locate the battery compartment, usually on the front or side of the unit.
  • Insert the specified batteries, observing correct polarity (+/-).
  • Close the battery compartment securely.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Initial Power-Up and Time/Day Setting

Upon initial power-up or after battery replacement, the thermostat may require you to set the current time and day. Use the "Speed Dial" or dedicated buttons (e.g., UP/DOWN, SET) to navigate and adjust these settings.

3.2 Programming Schedules (5-2 Day)

The PSPLV512 allows for separate programming for weekdays (5 days) and weekends (2 days), with four program periods per day (e.g., Wake, Leave, Return, Sleep).

  1. Access the programming mode (refer to the on-screen prompts or the specific button for "Program" or "Set Schedule").
  2. Select the day(s) you wish to program (e.g., Mon-Fri, Sat-Sun).
  3. For each of the four periods, set the desired start time and temperature.
  4. Confirm each setting before moving to the next period or day.
  5. Exit programming mode to save changes.

3.3 Temporary Override

To temporarily adjust the temperature without changing the programmed schedule, use the UP/DOWN buttons. The thermostat will hold this new temperature until the next scheduled program period begins.

3.4 Vacation Hold

The vacation hold feature allows you to set a constant temperature for an extended period, overriding all programs. This is useful for energy savings when away from home.

  • Activate vacation hold (consult the manual for the specific button or menu option).
  • Set the desired vacation temperature.
  • The thermostat will maintain this temperature until vacation hold is manually cancelled.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Battery Replacement

The thermostat uses batteries to maintain its programming and power the display. Replace batteries annually or when the low battery indicator appears on the screen.

  1. Open the battery compartment.
  2. Remove old batteries and dispose of them responsibly.
  3. Insert new batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the compartment. You may need to re-enter the current time and day after battery replacement.

4.2 Cleaning

Clean the thermostat's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the plastic and electronic components.

5. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
