The Command 3M 17068 Wire Hooks with Strips offer a damage-free solution for hanging items in your home or office. Designed to hold strongly on various surfaces, these hooks can be removed cleanly without leaving holes, marks, or sticky residue. Each pack contains two medium wire hooks and four medium adhesive strips, capable of holding up to 3 pounds (1.36 kg) per hook.

Setup and Installation

Proper installation ensures maximum holding power and clean removal. Follow these steps carefully:

1. Clean the Surface: Select a smooth, clean surface. Wipe the area with rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol). Do not use household cleaners as they may leave a residue. Allow the surface to dry completely.
2. Prepare the Strip: Separate the Command Adhesive Strips. Remove the red liner from one side of the strip.
3. Apply to Hook: Press the adhesive strip firmly onto the back of the hook. Ensure the tab of the strip extends slightly below the hook for easy removal later.
4. Apply to Wall: Remove the black liner from the other side of the strip. Position the hook on the desired surface. Press the hook firmly against the wall for 30 seconds.
5. Wait: For maximum adhesion, wait 1 hour before hanging anything on the hook. This allows the adhesive to build strength.

Operating and Usage

Once installed, your Command Wire Hooks are ready for use. They are designed for indoor use and can hold items up to 3 pounds (1.36 kg). Ensure the weight of the item you intend to hang does not exceed this limit.

• Do not hang valuable or irreplaceable items.
• Do not hang over beds.
• Do not use on wallpaper, vinyl surfaces, or other delicate surfaces.
• Ensure the hook is securely attached before hanging any item.

Maintenance and Removal

Command Hooks require minimal maintenance. If you need to move or remove a hook, follow these steps for clean removal:

1. Remove Item: Take off any item hanging on the hook.
2. Hold Hook: Gently hold the top of the hook. Do not press the hook against the wall.
3. Stretch Strip: Slowly stretch the adhesive strip straight down along the wall, keeping your hand against the wall. Stretch the strip at least 6 inches (15 cm) until the hook releases from the wall. Do not pull the strip outwards or upwards.
4. Re-application: If you wish to re-use the hook, you will need a new Command Medium Adhesive Strip.

To clean the hooks, simply wipe them with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

Troubleshooting

• Hook fell off:
  • Ensure the surface was cleaned with rubbing alcohol and allowed to dry completely before application.
  • Verify that the strip was pressed firmly against the hook and the wall for 30 seconds each.
  • Confirm that the 1-hour waiting period was observed before hanging items.
  • Check if the weight of the item exceeded the 3-pound limit.
• Residue left on wall after removal:
  • The strip might not have been stretched straight down or stretched enough (at least 6 inches).
  • Ensure the strip was not pulled outwards or upwards during removal.
• Hook not sticking to surface:
  • The surface might be textured, porous, or painted with a low-VOC paint, which can affect adhesion. Command hooks work best on smooth, solid surfaces.
  • Ensure the surface is not wallpaper or vinyl, as these are not recommended.
