4. Setup & Assembly

Assembly typically requires two adults and basic tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers). Follow the steps below carefully.

  1. Assemble the Pole Sections: Connect the galvanized steel pole sections according to the diagrams provided in your printed manual. Ensure all connections are secure.
  2. Attach the Backboard and Rim: Secure the 32-inch backboard to the upper pole section using the provided hardware. Then, attach the stainless steel rim and nylon net to the backboard. Ensure all bolts are tightened firmly.

  3. Connect Pole to Base: Insert the lower pole section into the portable base. Secure it using the designated hardware.
  4. Fill the Base: The base has a 38-liter capacity. Fill the base completely with either sand or water to ensure maximum stability. Sand provides greater stability and is recommended for permanent outdoor placement.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Adjusting the Height

The Lifetime Chicago basketball hoop features a telescopic height adjustment mechanism.

  1. Ensure the area around the pole is clear.
  2. Locate the adjustment knob on the rear of the pole.
  3. Loosen the knob by turning it counter-clockwise.
  4. Carefully slide the upper pole section up or down to the desired height. The system can be adjusted between 168 cm (5.5 feet) and 229 cm (7.5 feet).
  5. Once the desired height is reached, tighten the adjustment knob securely by turning it clockwise until the pole is firmly locked in place.

5.2 Moving the Basketball System

The portable base is equipped with wheels for easy relocation.

  1. Ensure the base is filled for stability during movement, but do not attempt to lift the entire system when full.
  2. Carefully tilt the system forward by grasping the pole, allowing the base to rest on its wheels.
  3. Roll the system to the desired new location.
