Setup
Unpacking
Carefully remove the roller grill from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any shipping damage. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or if the unit needs to be returned for service.
Placement
Place the roller grill on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface. Ensure adequate clearance around the unit for ventilation and safe operation. The slanted design provides optimal product visibility. Refer to the diagram below for dimensions.

Figure 1: Dimensional diagram of the HRS-31S roller grill. The diagram indicates a height of 11.25 inches, a depth of 18-5/8 inches (approximately 18.63 inches), and a width of 23-3/4 inches (approximately 23.75 inches) for the HRS-31S model. It also shows a 6-foot power cord.
Electrical Connection
Connect the roller grill to a grounded electrical outlet. The unit requires a 120V, 60Hz power supply, drawing 8.3 Amps and consuming 985 Watts. Ensure the electrical circuit can support these requirements.
Operating Instructions
Controls
The HRS-31S features two independent adjustable heating zones. These zones allow for precise temperature control, enabling one section to grill products while the other holds them at a safe serving temperature.
Preheating
Turn on the roller grill and set the desired temperature for the grilling zone. Allow the unit to preheat for approximately 15-20 minutes until the rollers reach the set temperature. The rollers heat quickly for efficient operation.
Cooking
Place products, such as hot dogs, evenly across the ten "Tru-Turn" non-stick rollers. The 19.5-inch cooking surface accommodates a significant quantity of items. The rollers continuously turn to ensure even cooking. The unit can grill up to 460 hot dogs per hour.
Holding Temperature
Utilize the second heating zone to maintain cooked products at NSF safe holding temperatures. Adjust the temperature control for this zone as needed to keep items warm without overcooking.
Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
After each use, or as needed, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely. Wipe the "Tru-Turn" non-stick rollers clean with a damp cloth. The non-stick surface ensures excellent product release and simplifies cleaning. The raised rollers facilitate cleaning in hard-to-reach areas.
Remove and empty the grease collection pan. Wash the pan with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry before replacing. The exterior cabinet, constructed of stainless steel, can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
General Care
Regularly inspect the power cord for any signs of damage. Ensure all components are securely in place before operation. Proper and consistent cleaning will extend the lifespan and maintain the performance of your roller grill.
Troubleshooting
If the unit is not functioning as expected, review the following common issues:
- Unit Not Heating: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a functional outlet. Check the circuit breaker. Verify that the temperature controls are set correctly and not in the 'off' position.
- Uneven Cooking: Ensure products are distributed evenly across the rollers. Allow sufficient preheating time. Verify that both heating zones are functioning correctly and set to appropriate temperatures.
- Rollers Not Turning: Check for any obstructions preventing roller movement. Ensure the unit is clean and free of debris that might impede rotation.
