Setup and First Use

1. Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials, labels, and stickers from your coffeemaker. Ensure all components are present: coffeemaker unit, removable water tank, charcoal water filter, reusable My K-Cup, and measuring spoon.

2. Initial Cleaning

Before first use, wash the removable water tank, drip tray, and reusable My K-Cup in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker with a damp cloth.

3. Water Tank and Filter Installation

  1. Remove the 60-ounce water tank from the back of the coffeemaker.
  2. Install the charcoal water filter into its designated holder within the water tank. Follow the filter's specific instructions for initial preparation (e.g., soaking).
  3. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX fill line.
  4. Place the filled water tank back onto the coffeemaker, ensuring it is securely seated. The tank features white bottom lighting to indicate water level.

4. Priming the Coffeemaker

It is essential to prime your coffeemaker before its first use.

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled.
  2. Place a large mug or container on the drip tray.
  3. Close the K-Cup holder without inserting a K-Cup or My K-Cup.
  4. Press the brew button to initiate a cleansing cycle. The coffeemaker will dispense hot water.
  5. Discard the hot water. Your coffeemaker is now primed and ready for use.

Operating Instructions

1. Brewing a Hot Beverage

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh water.
  2. Lift the handle to open the K-Cup holder.
  3. Insert a K-Cup pod or your filled reusable My K-Cup into the holder. Close the handle firmly.
  4. Place your mug on the drip tray.
  5. Use the LCD control panel to select your desired brew strength (5 options available) and cup size. You can also adjust the variable brew temperature.
  6. Press the brew button to start. The coffeemaker will begin brewing with quiet pump technology.
  7. Once brewing is complete, carefully remove your hot beverage.

2. Iced Beverage Function

The Breville BKC700XL features an iced beverage function for iced tea or coffee.

  1. Fill a heat-resistant glass or mug with ice.
  2. Insert your chosen K-Cup pod (coffee or tea) into the K-Cup holder.
  3. Select the "Iced Beverage" option on the LCD control panel. This function dispenses a concentrated 3.5-ounce shot.
  4. Press the brew button.
  5. Once the concentrated shot is dispensed over the ice, dilute with additional water if desired, and stir.

Care and Maintenance

1. Daily Cleaning

Note: The coffeemaker is not dishwasher safe.

2. Water Filter Replacement

The charcoal water filter should be replaced approximately every two months, or after 60 tank refills, to ensure optimal water quality and beverage flavor. Refer to the filter packaging for specific replacement instructions.

3. Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (scale) can build up in your coffeemaker, affecting performance and taste. Descale your coffeemaker every 3-6 months, depending on water hardness and usage. Use a descaling solution specifically designed for coffeemakers, following the product's instructions. Alternatively, a solution of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio) can be used for descaling, followed by several rinse cycles with fresh water.

Troubleshooting
