Setup Guide
Setting up your CineMate GS Series II system is designed to be straightforward, requiring only a few connections.
1. Positioning Components
- Gemstone Speakers: Place the two Gemstone speakers equidistant from your television, ideally at ear level when seated. Ensure they are facing the primary listening area.
- Acoustimass Module: The Acoustimass module can be placed discreetly out of sight, such as behind furniture or in a corner. Its sound is non-directional. Ensure it has adequate ventilation.
- Interface Module: Position the interface module near your TV, ensuring its front is visible to receive commands from the remote control.
2. Making Connections
- Connect Speakers to Acoustimass Module: Use the provided speaker cable to connect the Gemstone speakers to the Acoustimass module. Ensure the correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) if applicable.
- Connect Acoustimass Module to Interface Module: Connect the Acoustimass module to the interface module using the designated cable.
- Connect Interface Module to TV: Your system supports two primary audio input types: optical digital (Toslink) and analog RCA (red/white).
- Optical Digital: If your TV has an optical audio output, use the provided optical cable to connect it to the 'OPTICAL IN' port on the interface module. This is the recommended connection for best audio quality.
- Analog RCA: If your TV only has analog RCA audio outputs, use the provided stereo RCA cable to connect them to the 'ANALOG IN Left, Right' ports on the interface module.
- Note: If your TV has a coaxial digital output, you may need a separate digital audio converter (not included) to convert the signal to optical for compatibility with the CineMate system.
- Connect Power: Plug the power cord into the Acoustimass module, and then into a wall outlet.

The universal remote control is your primary interface for the CineMate GS Series II system and most connected devices.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Bose CineMate GS Series II system, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surfaces of the speakers, Acoustimass module, and interface module. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Ventilation: Ensure the Acoustimass module has adequate airflow around it to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.
- Placement: Avoid placing the system components in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in areas with high humidity.
- Cables: Periodically check all cables for secure connections and signs of wear or damage.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your CineMate GS Series II system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Sound:
- Ensure all cables are securely connected between the TV, interface module, Acoustimass module, and speakers.
- Verify the system is powered on and not muted.
- Check your TV's audio output settings to ensure it is sending audio to the correct output (optical or analog) and not its internal speakers.
- Confirm the correct input source is selected on the CineMate remote.
- Remote Control Not Working with Other Devices:
- Ensure the remote has fresh batteries.
- Verify the remote is programmed correctly for your specific device (e.g., TV, cable box). Consult the Setup DVD or Bose support for programming codes. For Motorola cable boxes, try codes "00858" (under CBL-SAT brand "Motorola") or "01998" (under V-ACC brand "Motorola").
- Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the device's IR receiver.
- Poor Audio Quality / Distortion:
- Check speaker placement and ensure they are not too close to walls or corners, which can cause excessive bass.
- Adjust the bass level knob on the rear of the Acoustimass module.
- Ensure the audio source is of good quality.
- Insufficient Speaker Cable Length:
- The included speaker cable is 15 feet long. If longer cables are required for your setup, compatible extensions or longer cables may be purchased separately from Bose or authorized retailers.
If these steps do not resolve your issue, please contact Bose customer support for further assistance.
